Sportscenter playerd a portion just now (a fill 3 breaks after teasing it, they got me), and Lebatard bent a little too much on the cross-type questions, sadly. He should have gotten a "no I didn't know" out of Manfred like 6 different ways, then jumped when Manfred said "competitive teams in every market is my goal". He let Manfred slide a little too much on curiously narrow verbiage like "we don't approve player-specific plans for franchise buyers" for too long and then seemed to drop it.

You’ll have to cut him some slack , he’s been a emotional wreck since the network president resigned so he’s probably off his game .

The ownership group was approved, the Commish has nothing to do with how they gut their roster or slash payroll. Blame the city council for Miami for giving billionaires tax funded stadiums.

Well, a real commissioner would have the power to negate trades the way Bowie Kuhn did when Finley dumped his roster. But of course, Manfred isn't really a neutral commissioner. That position doesn't exist anymore. Fay Vincent was the last one. The commissioner is now an advocate for the owners.
