Apple is slowing down your old iPhone

Noticed that your iPhone 6 or 7 feels like it's slowing down? Well, you may not be imagining it. Apple has conceded that older phones do experience a slowdown as a result of the company attempting to "smooth out" processor-power peaks the batteries couldn't handle, according a report by TechCrunch. The clarification comes as numerous users have complained that their phones are no longer performing optimally.

I have absolutely no problems with my iPhone 7 right now. Until Android figures out how to not make phones that become unusable after 15 months I'm happy to stick with Apple.

But this phasing out shit is sketchy as fook.

Apple fanbois are almost as pathetic as #Cult45

Both are groups composed of people who deserve to get fleeced.

I've owned two (2) flagship Android devices in my life. Both started to become sluggish and constantly froze to the point of being inoperable around the 15 month point. Attempts to get them repaired were met with "sorry man, sometimes they just start to run that way." Twice this happened.

Nomination seconded...for this and for making it impossible to simply replace the $4 battery with a new one and avoid all this bullshit, which causes people to upgrade unnecessarily.

Who tried to repair it?

I've had 4 straight androids and every one has made it 24 months with little issue.

Do they die or do you just decide to get newer models? (I've had an Android for five months now after having two pre-smartphones over eight years.)

I decide to get new ones. I need to keep up for work related things.

The only real slowness issues have been from zombie apps that take up background processes and slow it down. I think any phone I've had could have lasted at least 3 years though batteries are unlikely to work well that late. Luckily they are easy to replace.

My Sony Walkman mp3 player is finally losing its battery after 7+ years of faithful service (I really tend to hang on to all my other consumer electronics when I can because my laptops always die prematurely), down to maybe three hours if it's not cold out, which obviously now it is. I hope I can replace that battery.

Well, I don't think your Apple store wanted to repair Android devices.

Also, if your Android device is "unusable" then you make sure your photos and documents are backed up and do a factory reset. Any tech that says "This is just what happens" without suggesting that isn't very good.

I would be absolutely shocked if a freshly reset Android device that is 15 months old was unusable. It sucks to do the reset in that worst case scenario but we are talking about an unusable device anyways. What normally happens is you do the factory reset and then afterwards you discover that you had something like Facebook slowing it all down even when you weren't using it because it was using your gps to track you.

I'd very much prefer neither get talked about.

This world needs a lot more of the 'keep your eyes on your own paper' type of attitude.

Which OS is more used to remote detonate IEDs?

That is my benchmark for extremism

Still rocking an iPhone 5C. Really no issues with it other than the charge doesn't last as long as it probably should. I rarely
use it so doesn't really bother me. I use about .5 GB of data a month on average so pretty minimal.
