Apparently submitted a financial plan to make the Marlins profitable THIS SEASON!

Going to increase revenue by increasing tickets sales!

Going to re-negotiate the tv deal with Fox to get more money!

What a joke.

I'm sure you will all take this the wrong way but that was virtually the same thing the Cubs did.

This was his year 1 goals. So far, he has traded away pretty much the entire team and has no marketable stars left, alienated his already puny fanbase, and signaled they plan on tanking this season. Not sure how he will increase ticket sales and re-negotiate his tv contract this season with all that.

Did the Cubs raise ticket prices after a fire sale? I honestly don't remember the Darwin Barney era that clearly.

Was he supposed to tell potential investors that the future was bleak?

Maybe he told them what he was going to do?

What has happened with the Marlins is nowhere near the same as happened with any other team in baseball.

Doing it all in the first year is more aggressive than most new owners but the plan is pretty much the same. Even the Ricketts raised ticket prices in year one, though I'm sure people will point out that they waited two years to tank.

MLB has built the game to do this exact thing. Jeter is 100% right to do it. Anyone complaining about his tactics sounds like the same people(including me) who were wrong about Theo intentionally tanking.

The Marlins just got done with an owner who got a new stadium to compete and immediately sold everyone off the year after it opened. Then when they are finally close to competing they get a new owner selling everyone off again.

I am not complaining about his tactics. I don't care what he does. I'm laughing at his audacity to think he can make them profitable by thinking he can kill the team AND increase revenue all in one offseason. They were getting White Sox attendance. Now, they will be lucky to hit TB levels.

The Cubs were still able to sell the baseball/Wrigley experience to get solid attendance even if they sucked ass. Marlins do not have that luxury. Their new stadium sucks and no one cares to see it.

I thought it was funny that the team wanted to take out that weird sculpture monstrosity in center field and was told by the county it physically can't be removed.
