Bob, you need a whole team of teachers to bring you up to speed.

Can the city dump these unions and just hire private contractors? It would really help their fiscal crisis if they went ahead and did this. The unions have sucked the city dry will be its downfall. Public sector unions are the absolute fucking worst.

The answer seems obvious. Train teachers to snow plow when they aren't at work and when they are off for 4 months out of the year.

Just re-schedule summer break to the winter.

Illinois needs to go and borrow Wisconsin's state government for a year so that they can fix the public sector union bullshit. It would go a long way towards saving the dying state and city.

They sure as hell don't spend their ENTIRE summer planning for next year, like they tell us.

Being a teacher sucks, but they are paid enough. I certainly wouldn't call their job cushy.

there are teachers who, if they are teaching the same sections year to year, don't do anything from June till Mid-August.

Who would be left living in the city if MANY city jobs went private?

And who would be there to re-elect the same people every year like they are told to?

There is much more involved here than just some snow plow and garbage truck drivers.

I’m sure if the city fired all those middle class city workers and replaced them with private sector people , the taxes people pay would totally be reduced to reflect the savings.

Yep.

Middle class union workers are the problem with AMERICA.

The problem is that middle class union workers think they should be upper class union workers. The job is worth what the job is worth.

I don't think so.

Not to mention the pension payments that won't be collected in order to keep that Ponzi scheme going.

Snow plowing is another industry begging for disruption. Nothing a little crowdsourcing can't solve.
