Eh, maybe somebody somewhere wanted some data about what folks would do if there was an inbound missile. Sort of a pop-quiz ... an unannounced dress rehearsal if you will. Likely not, but theoretically possible.

I hope they were able to confirm their hypothesis that people would freak the fuck out was correct.

This entire episode is once again proof that if you ever want to create a really fucked up situation, just insert some government into the mix.

My wife’s cousin lives in Oahu. He said it was fucked up beyond belief. People were just screaming and crying in the street.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a hack. Good reason to never admit that though.

Fortunately Commander dumbass was on the golf course. But the hacks at the white house and Homeland security were having spastic fits and gripped by panic and collapsed

Surprised we haven't seen video of Kim lighting cigars while sitting at a desk that is outside for no apparent reason with a desk lamp during daylight hours.

The government cocksucker who pressed the wrong button isn't even getting fired. He's being "reassigned." Seriously, fuck government employees. I swear they are just a collection of incompetent morons who can't get a job and survive in the private sector.

abovetopsecret.com is pretty sure that this was real but the threat was neutralized. even if that is not true, (they are convinced it is) their backup is that it was done purposefully.

That's my feeling too, same for the two navy ships..all hacked and the government can't admit it.

I still have some friends who are in the 7th Fleet and I can safely say there was no hack. The problems with those 2 Navy ships were endemic to 7th Fleet surface operations. Basically the safety culture was non-existent and CO’s were taking ships out minus the requisite number of qualified watch standers. This meant that you had OOD’s who were responsible for the operation of the ship who had maybe gotten 3 or 4 hours of sleep in the 48 hours prior to the accidents. In the weeks leading up to the collisions when people noticed the unsafe practices, they were basically told by superiors “you can sleep when you’re dead.”

In fact, the Navy just brought up both CO’s and several other officers on charges including negligent homicide as a result of the investigation. There was no hacking on those ships, just CO’s who were more concerned with looking good for the DESRON commanders at the expense of safety. The fact that both collisions occurred with ships in DESRON 15 is no accident. It was a result of the practices encouraged under that command. The charges brought against the CO's are almost unheard of in such a situation, but the investigations unearthed such astounding lapses in safety that they became necessary.

Just adding things I've heard from friends still in the fleet.
