I'm not a lawyer like Regular Reader, good dolphin, or JLN, but my guess is that since he already was convicted she can say that she wishes he could be given a harsher sentence against the Constitution without it being a mistrial. It doesn't mean she judged him unfairly prior to the conviction.

Still, bad and useless thing to do.

So many "board lawyers" here...yet everyone is convinced a conviction can be overturned on a case in which the defendent already "plead". hmmm
Um, I specifically mentioned it was done after the conviction.

You do know that technically a conviction and pleading guilty are two separate things right?

Not...really, like, at all? Saying a judge shouldn't gleefully say they have signed a death warrant isn't denying or excusing the actions of the accused/convicted.

The obvious and tasteless grandstanding by the judge does not eclipse the repulsive evils committed by the offender.

Nomination denied.

Oh, you mean DB meant "defending the rights of an actual child rapist"? Then yes. Absolutely no shame in that, try as you might.

I thought he/you meant "defending the actions of an actual child rapist".

This is what the 2nd or 3rd thread in the last day where you've ended "who cares"?

Everyone should care about inflamatory judges who bring that kind of personal animus to a case. Parkins had it right earlier, give him a fair trial, if convicted or if he pleads out, sentence him appropriately, send him to jail and move on.

Give the scumbag the 175 on top of the 60 he already got and let him go suffer in the hell he created for himself.

Interesting that you find a kiddie rapist getting verbally taking behind the woodshed "inflammatory". America(Poster) was right...Patton would see this shit hole today and say "why bother".

I've known a couple judges in my day. They've both told me similar things: they have a persona they must uphold, however they're still human and not devoid of emotion.

Cameras, media, high profile case? I'm surprised this judge didn't attack the man herself.

Can't a judge bar cameras and media from the courtroom? If all it takes for her to openly wish for the ability to sentence a defendant to rape is a heinous conviction and some media buzz, this person shouldn't be a judge.

I think you need to take a look at her entire "body of work/career" before you say she "shouldn't be a judge". I get she was mean to a kiddie rapist, and that upsets you, but you should probably look at other cases she judged, no?

Absolutely cameras can be banned from the courtroom. Then again, people still know the name of Lance Ito.

No, one of my "shouldn't be a judge" tests is simply asking "has this judge wished for a defendant to be raped because of the severity of their crime?". Got another one that's pretty much the same, but it asks whether the judge has gleefully proclaimed to have signed a defendant's "death warrant".

I think you need to take a look at his entire "body of work/posting career" before you say he's an "inflamatory [sic] poster". I get he was mean to an imbecile, and that upsets you because you're the imbecile, but you should probably look at other threads he's posted in, no?

Yeah, I never thought I'd see the day JLN went to bat for Reader on this board. Even more shocking the topic...Compassion for Kiddie Didlers.
