Kids are going to be breathing air and drinking water after we're gone, but they can't vote to protect the environment? They're required to attend underfunded schools but can't vote to fix them.

Kids who work pay into Social Security without say as to how it's managed.

When politicians work to fix Social Security, they have to keep adults happy. They can rob our kids' future without losing a vote.

Poverty among young people exceeds all other age groups, yet the government spends 10 times more on poor adults than it does each poor child.

They have no AARP to lobby for them.

They have no voice at all.

You know, it's funny, when it rains it pours. They budget/tax $$$ for wars but can't feed the poor.

They say there ain't no hope for the youth, and the truth is it ain't no hope for the future. And then they wonder why we are crazy.

I would have been a terrible person to be voting at 16. I probably would have voted for a Democrat.

16 year old voter record me would have been very similar to the rest of my 16 year old self - a complete jack ass. I likely would have done write-in votes for Layne Staley or Al Bundy.

This whole movement is rearing its head because some kids who got shot at are espousing the liberal talking points on guns. I guarantee if those kids were saying they should have all been armed to the teeth so they could have taken Cruz out, liberal dipshits on Twitter would not be advocating for giving them voting rights.

Everyone is very impressed with how ambitious and articulate these kids are. No shit, it's Tropical New Trier. If someone shot up Badger High School (home of the Badgers) and CNN came to get comments, they'd get "Iunno like I was in class orwuhever and we were talkin about goin to a bonfire n shit and then there was a lockdown and we all thought it was funny because we heard this one dude got a blowjob during one but I guess it was real an I know everyone's sayin we can't have guns but like I go hunting up north with my dad and I can use a gun so like why not just give EVERYONE a gun an then this won't happen right?"

This issue I was referring to was gun control.

I don't think physical maturity has anything to do with consent. We have a culture that sexualizes children well before the age of 17. You can thank advertising for that. My point was simply how ridiculous it is to even consider giving 16 year olds the right to vote when we treat them like helpless babies in so many other instances.

That's what's driving the issue right now and why the checkmark brigade is trying the "LET THEM VOTE!!!!" battle cry. It's just another excuse to minimize the opinions of those who disagree with you.

If this is the basis for granting voting rights we are dangerously close to stripping women of the vote.

I agree though, it's just another totalitarian tactic by the #resistance.

Sorry. I'll take the thoughts of those who just had to see their friends gunned down over some jackass who ran away Europe chirping about how things should be here Comrade Croissant.

Should fetuses have the right to vote?

I don't think this issue can be addressed in a vacuum.

I think we should be looking for ways to take away the right to vote from about half the country, not look for more people to give the right to.
