Is it really blackface though when you are portraying a real life character who is black rather than a stereotype?

We have a few guys here we could ask. Like I said in the Northam thread, I don't recall blackface for a costume of someone that was admired (like that guy you posted dressed as Mr. T) being viewed as offensive in the same way it is now.

Obviously, blackface has a history. But I believe that what I'm describing wasn't really considered blackface at the time and rather was just seen as an attempt to look as much like the person as possible. That's my recollection. I could be mistaken though.

That Kimmel as Malone thing wasn't that long ago and when you combine the blackface with the way he was speaking, I would consider that highly offensive. In fact, it's outrageous.

It won't be long before balaclavas are pulled off the market for too closely resembling blackface.

but just to be safe Jimmy Kimmel probably shouldn't be a Governor either.

I would argue that Kimmel is far more powerful than most governors. He single-handedly prevented the complete repeal of Obamacare.
