In Alec Baldwin’s first interview since cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot while filming the movie Rust in October, the actor claims that he “didn’t pull the trigger” of the gun, adding to the mystery of what happened on the set.

In an interview, Baldwin told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he “would never point a gun at someone and pull a trigger at them, never,” though he admitted the gun was in his hand when Hutchins was shot and killed and director Joel Souza was injured, according to a preview of the conversation.

Tune in tonight and see how the fuck that works.

I was wondering how his lawyer would be allowing this.

I guess we know now.

i mean, sure. its possible for some guns to discharge with a drop.

Considering it is a western, Id need to know more about the kind of gun. If its a period time replica of a revolver and depending on the type of action its made with, that could increase the likelihood, or plausibility, that he might not have pulled the trigger. There's different stages in cocking a revolver and lots of historical instances of folks shooting themselves in their leg with the revolver going off in their holster.

I get what you are saying, but I thought reports stated that she was shot in the chest.

yeah, it would depend on what was being done with it at the time of pointing. if it were half cocked and it somehow slipped (the hammer) i suppose its possible. Im more inclined to think the trigger was pulled inadvertently or maybe a hammer slip while decocking and it fired.

don't point a gun at something unless you want to destroy it.

every gun is loaded.

As has been pointed out a few times though, that doesn't really work on a movie set.

This guy, Branca, was the rock star lawyer during Our Kyle's trial podcasts regarding gun laws and self defense. He knows all. But, fortunately for Baldwin, Santa Fe, NM is a lefty hive.

Ironically, he’ll shoot somebody dead in public and lefties will buy the argument that it is indeed guns that kill people, not other people.

I finally got around to watching his interview on youtube.

He's a fucking liar. He pulled the trigger. He's just doing PR for the obvious lawsuit.

Am I right, Darkside? No way a modern gun goes off by just hitting the hammer, right? Cuz they said it was a modern Colt 45 revolver for the movie. All though I do remember old Western movies where they were able to fire the gun by constantly hitting the hammer.

I know nothing about guns. Explain this to me, Darkside. Is he full of shit?

Probably.

Then another thing that troubled me about the interview. Baldwin said when it happened, he thought she fainted. Ok. Fine. Maybe that's what he thought initially.

Then he said he went up to her and stood by her for 60 seconds. Said he still didn't know she was shot.

Hey, Alec, did you not notice the blood gushing out? And the interviewer, George, never asked that question. Because I assume there was blood. I mean it was a fatal gun shot wound. There had to be blood that was noticeable.

I just don't know how he was standing over her and it didn't hit him that she was shot with a real bullet. Once again, she died. She obviously was bleeding when he stood over her.

Sometimes people don't know they've been shot themselves. People don't go flying back like in the movies. Depending on what she was wearing a would might not have been immediately obvious. I'll give the 60 seconds thing the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I know it's not like the movies. But wouldn't you have seen blood in those 60 seconds? I would think so. She got shot in the gut.

Then, in that moment, wouldn't the immediate instinct be to rip of your shirt to stop the bleeding. Compress it until the ambulance came. I know that's what I would do.

He said medics told him to leave after 60 seconds. There were medics on the set? I don't believe that.

Time to change the thread title. Alec Baldwin, involuntary manslaughterer.

Great thread.

FavreFan nailed it on page 2. Was that guy ever wrong about anything?

I said it the days after it happened in this thread. That Baldwin had to be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Doesn't matter that he's an actor. You gotta know your weapon and check your weapon. It's on you. Nobody else.

15+ months later and now charges that he’ll likely get reduced on a slap on the hands plea deal…further proof that the American justice system is and will always be a joke. If they couldn’t have made a determination on charges by last spring, this is either a well paid for delay or empty political posturing. Or likely both in a waste of time.

Right, because Alec Baldwin is the first person ever in America to have a clean record (to my knowledge) and take a plea deal with a slap on the wrist for something that seems to have been a complete accident.

That’s one of my points, it’s a complete waste of time.

Pointing a real gun at someone and pulling the trigger without checking if it's loaded first isn't an accident. It's negligence at best. Gross negligence if you ask me. I'm glad they are trying to hold him accountable for something. Maybe it will stop it from happening again.
