I don't care how much someone spends on shoes, it is more about the condition in the environment. If you are wearing beat up shoes mowing the lawn or at Home Depot, it is acceptable. If you wear gym shoes with a suit, you are a fucking idiot.

Makes sense, but I don't care if your dress shoes or boots cost 300 or 30.

JORR avoided killing the thread by commandeering it and turning it into Shoe Talk.

Pretty much there are like 3 tiers of dress shoes, and unless you know how they are stitched, no one is gonna know the difference between mid tier and high end dress shoes. Problem is, mid tier starts around $300-$400.

If someone buys a pair of boots made of cordovan leather and they last me 15-20 years, I would spend the money. Nothing wrong with wearing a pair of $30 boots.

Another way “they” get you. You can’t afford the expensive ones that last a long time so you keep having to buy the cheap ones that cost more over the long run.

Or they want to get laid.

Cheap shoes are terrible.

That's the last time I appeal to your authority!

Johnston and Murphy is what I would consider mid range and what I buy. Shouldn’t have to spend much more than $125 for a good pair of shoes. I don’t have to wear nice shoes that often, khakis and polo shirts don’t really need much dressing up. My current favorite shoes are spikeless golf shoes. They are so comfortable.

Nordstrom usually has sales. You can pick up a good shoe for a hundred or so. Really, men don't need a lot of shoes. You can get away with 2 dress shoes - black and brown, a loafer, a causal boot, then everyday gym shoes/sneakers, and maybe a hiking type boot and a few summer shoes.

You guys think and do a lot of stupid shit to get laid. If a girl wants to fuck you because of your shoes she's probably after your money. If you both like this arrangement fine. I'd pass on it, I don't want money nor do I want to be used. That's not what makes great sex. I've never looked at anyone's shoes and thought I've got to get me some of that!

What's yours to expensive shoes, you Mars Blackmon? Put 99% of the guys on this board in Testoni or Dorothy's Ruby slippers and I'm still gonna say no thanks.

I wouldn't say I have an emotional attachment to expensive shoes. It's not the price that's really at issue, although obviously there's usually a correlation. Cheap shitty shoes suck. It's quite odd for a woman to defend them. I get that Nardi may be attached to his Chernin's discount brogans and took umbrage with my distaste for such.

I think Allen Edmonds is probably the start of the mid tier. I wear something similar to Johnston & Murphy. Nothing wrong with those brands.

Unless you’re maintaining power plants your HVAC skills are useless come apocalypse.

Better to ride with a redneck who can jerryrig a generator with some duck-tape and a bicycle.

I have small feet, I'm not a shoe person because of the limited selection. I also have the worst memories of my mom dragging me to buster browns or Kinneys to buy me the ugliest shoes in the world. I had 4 pairs of shoes every year. School shoes, gym shoes, and dress shoes. Around easter I'd get white shoes or sandals. Every once and a while she'd get me flip flops in the summer. I'd beat them to hell or stub my toe and then return to the more practical gym shoes. This one year I think K or 1st grade I had thee ugliest pair of brown school shoes sometimes I'd cry putting them on. Shortly after we needed dress shoes for a wedding and the only ones that fit and we could afford were these red patent leather ones that were discounted to about $2 I wore those everywhere instead of the brown ones.

It's funny I'll dress up in pretty much anything but my shoes are the same boots for everything. When I'm on the Dane floor nobody lookin at my god damn feet and honestly I'm not going to care what a girls shoes are either.
