so this morning it took over an hour to go the 10 miles or so from O'hare to downtown...that's WITH the reversables...now take away 2 of those 5 lanes

And while I'm ranting, who the fuck is in charge of flipping them or shutting them (reversibles) down completely, both of which seem to randomly happen...and for someone like me that's trying to get into the city it can add 20-40 minutes onto a commute....and my GPS can't anticipate what will happen

These things are never as bad as we believe they'll be.

Seems like the concrete should have lasted longer from the major reconstruction 20 years ago. The Edens concrete from the 70s lasted much longer.

I was commuting to UIC via the Ike when they did the big Kennedy Construction in the 90's. And yes it was God awful as about 25% of the traffic diverted to the Ike during that time.

I went to IU this past weekend. How is that I-65 and the rings roads around Indy are always under construction and yet that road is such poor shape?

Yep! I tried to hit the road to Georgia at night a couple of years ago, and I went about 5 miles in an hour. It was 1 am. I almost lost it.

the last time i was on 65 was going to Louisville a few years ago....there'd be like 10 miles of construction, then you'd see the end of it and start celebrating. Then 1 mile later more construction would start.

And all these years there is still a sign that says road noise next six miles. You would think they would fix that stretch.

Living a block from the NW line between the two Arlington stations, when trains start blasting their horns at all hours I know that means someone has offed themselves.

There was a run in early December where someone got got around the Ridge Ave. intersection and then like two days later a car got sent into the air at Arl.Hts. Rd. The driver actually got out and ran away, the conductor told me.

It's a pretty easy drive though for the most part in my experience. Nashville was a cluster fuck the few times Ive driven through in last 10 years and I imagine it is getting worse.

My son would verify that. Traffic is his biggest complaint as the food and sports are getting it done down there. Crappy music aside, the oddest thing to him is that the animals still haven't adapted per se and are trying to stick around.

I know Country is prevalent down there, but on weekends you can find almost any kind of live music you want walking up and down Broadway street.
