Respect for owning up to his mistakes.

This guy could teach Bud Light a thing or two about contrition.

Clearly, Brown needs some sage advice from an experienced media pro in his reaction to being suspended. I think that he lost some opportunities to advance his career by cowtowing to the ownership after their stupid action against him. He didn't need to be a loudmouth and whiner but he should have stood his ground against the O's management. Bowing down like he did was not smart. I just think that he lost some respect of people who supported him right after his suspension occurred..

What in the hell are you talking about? Bowing to the owners/corporate broadcaster probably saved his career from being stalled or worse. Coming out firing against your employer for an admittedly shitty decision is exactly how you get fired and blackballed.

Yeah, nothing like putting a price tag on your dignity and professional reputation for all to see.

He should have said nothing.

That is the correct answer.

I don't disagree that he would've been better off saying nothing and pretending the whole thing never happened, especially because he had so many other broadcasters saying probably exactly what he wanted to say, but having to bend the knee is kind of the trade-off you make when you become that kind of enhancing talent instead of the talent on the marquee.

Who said he needed to say anything?

He didn't need to make a trade off. He would have been hired somewhere else after his present contract was paid off by the O's.

What would you have the guy do, Bob? If your boss is a prickly bitch to the point that he will have you suspended for saying that his now-good team has sucked against this opponent previously, what do you think he'd do if you so much as acknowledged the words of more prominent broadcasters and media types calling him out for being such a prickly bitch?

Angelos may be the Chamberlain in this situation. He let Kevin Brown insult his way through the organization and then just gave him the job back.

Appeasement never works when dealing with nerd broadcasters. You drop the hammer and move on. These Syracuse dummies are a dime a dozen.

As they say, there are only 30 of those jobs. Considering none of us knew who he was before, I doubt he'd have an expectation to walk in to another gig if he torched the owner on the way out. Maybe he could join the clown booth that does Apple TV games.

You aren't going to win against an Ellis Island award winner.
