One refrain I've heard from critiques of Putin and by extension Tucker Carlson bumping uglies with Putin is that Putin puts on the knee-pads and gets to work any time Xi Jinping/China reaches out to Russia for anything.

I dunno, that seems more like Putin doing the balance of powers thing playing China off/against the U.S.A--
