In a perfect world they could've shot it with a tranquilizer. But since I don't and they don't live in that place, they did what they thought was best at the time. I'm sure after-the-fact armchair policy and law makers will decide that this wasn't the best course of action. But if there was a fucking cougar in my neighborhood while I was outside with my kids and and a cop showed up and said I have to go get my tranquilizer or call someone to get a tranquilizer....? I might have to go IceT on his dumbass.

No, they are not. Plus I thought I saw on the news last night that the tranquilizers would have taken fifteen or twenty minutes to take effect, in which time the cougar could have taken off somewhere else and the search would have been on again.

I would say they should be in the Shoutout section for killing a wild carnivore that was a clear danger to everyone in that area.

I would say everyone who was against them doing what they had to do to protect the public are D-bags. If this thing would have malled some kid to death because they sat around waiting for someone with a tranquilizer gun to show up, they would have never heard the end of it.

I'm normally all for using tranqs and getting these animals to a zoo or back where they belong, but in a crowded urban setting I don't think the cops had much choice in shooting to kill. They were dammed if they did and dammed if they didn't. They were gonna catch flack from somebody.
