We had 18 days of winter. As far as January is concerned, nomination denied...with prejudice.

If a woman came up to you and said "My husband only beat me for 18 days in the past 2 months" would you tell her that her husband was great?

I'd tell her she had an opportunity to learn from her mistakes 17 times

I've been trying to find a way to move to a place without January or February but I haven't been able yet.

I worked outside for 20 years. January sucks. But comparatively speaking, it was dryer and warmer than usual. And dry is the key to getting shit done.

Another February, spare a dime
Another February slightly worse than January
Oh God, I lost the thread
That goddamn battery's dead
I can't kick the cough
The heat's been turned off
The family unit tightens
You bounce another check
The dog's a nervous wreck
And I smell like a brewery
A measure of my misery

Out here things froze up right after Christmas. This has been our first thaw of some water tanks. That’s not normal.

Today is the informal start of severe weather season.

I'm ready for some weather as well, but it appears we will be mainly dry this week with seasonal temperatures which should continue to melt the remaining snow and thaw the ground little by little. That is good news.

We’re better than halfway thru January without a significant winter snowfall in the area yet and not really cold . 6 more weeks and it’s March . This has been a cakewalk of a winter so far .

See? They challenge you both mentally and physically.

The bored doesn’t deserve these months.

We made it. It wasn't too bad either. That probably means the next 10 months will be terrible though. At least we get to have an average donut today to celebrate.

You probably should have had a paczki instead. They're pretty widely available in Chicago this time of year.

Not terrible at all, and both Jan and Feb were below average temperature wise.

Just like Daylight Savings Time, we need to get rid of these months.

All things considered, January was a cakewalk. Essentially the past ~35 days have been a cool, cloudy autumn.

February is starting out cold, but once we get past Friday the following 10 days or so temps trend at or above average.

We're long overdue for a big snow which I wouldn't mind at this point.
