Will always be a relevant thread. You go from the holidays to being stuck in Stalingrad for two months.

Yup and March is no cakewalk either. You go from 60 and sunny and thinking positive thoughts and then you get 7" of snow the next day. January and February are the worst but March enjoys kicking you in the nuts just as much.

At least with March there is Spring Training and light at the end of the tunnel. These first two weeks after the holidays are the worst. My wife was taking down most of the Christmas stuff yesterday, and I was legitimately sad to see everything get boxed up again.

I predict outdoor decorations are staying up a little longer than usual.

Being on vacation really shortened the whole 'Christmas season' for us. We were packing and planning beforehand and then we got back and it was already nearly Christmas eve. I feel like we missed out on the build up a little but it was nice having Christmas waiting for us to stop the vacation ended blues.

We took down the tree and everything else yesterday. The outside lights are going to have to wait until this weekend though. I'm not messing with that in single digit temps.

 Yeah...the outside lights will not be turned on anymore, but they are going to be up for quite a while. We've already had a casualty as an inflatable Santa no longer works.

The inflatable Santa was the one thing I did take down yesterday just because I didn't want it sitting frozen in the snow for a week.

Sex, putting the moves on a chick, Christmas, International Bird Migration Week, and the bottom half of any World Series any Chicago team has won in the past century....the build-up is the thing.

After the last 15-20 days, this week is going to feel almost like summertime.

I have bronchitis! I just coughed up a ball of phlegm with the consistency of rubber cement and the color of English toffee. This week will suck.

Worst part of quitting smoking for me is no more obnoxious phlegm balls

February is not great, but at least it can be expected to be somewhat milder than January. Plus 13 days until pitchers and catchers report

I call March 1 the end of winter. Sure, Tommy Skilling says differently but in a practical sense, winter probably doesn't end until May 1.

Jan 1 -- Feb 14 is the worst of it. Now the sun is higher in the sky, the snow melts quicker, and the arctic blasts are not as arcticey.

I'd been thinking the same thing, felt good seeing so many clear, dry streets and suddenly realized that people don't seem to know how to drive with all this bright sunshine. :?:

Yup. Hopefully the worst is behind us. Friday overnite into Saturday looks cold, but the long range forecast shows MANY high temps above 40. March can be a tease because you will get a couple of nice days, and then kicked in the balls as temps it fall back into the 20s. But aa genius said with the sun being higher and stronger those cold blasts are shorter.
