and yet the ball clearly hit the ground on Cobb's late 2Q reception but hat is rule a catch.

When you need to have a replay expert in Mike Prereira (sp?) it's time to evaluate what you have done to the game.

I don't care how successful they are, the NFL has become a bad product. I still watch my team, but over the years I invest less and less and less. Baseball and Hockey aren't perfect and perhaps they are on their way to a level of bad like the NFL, but they're not there yet. The NFL sucks.

Maybe I don't remember it correctly, but Gregg's strike zone was HUGE for the Braves pitchers back in the day.

YOur reception rule sucks. Dez catches the ball in the air, lands, and takes three steps while INTENTIONALLY diving for the goal line. NFL says thats not a catch. Dez Bryant and players like him him are too good for that rule. They have the ability to make a football move instantly. NFL BLEW THIS ONE.

The frustrating thing about the NFL is that they try to be so clinically precise with rules like this, yet most of the game is played with refs calling (or not calling) holding on a whim and making other judgment calls that are arbitrary and not reviewable.

The NFL must review their entire rule book & the way the game is officiated because the current state of affairs can not continue. Fans, players, owners, gamblers & the TV networks will become more & more disgruntled with the league. Also, breaking up the referee crews in favor of "all star" referee crews for the playoffs is just a bad bad idea. Roger Goodell should be fired by the owners at the end of this shit show of a season.

While we are bound to discuss rules after the game yesterday I would like to add a couple things. I do not want this ground can't cause a fumble crap. Also I am done with the breaking the plane BS. Either get in the damn end zone or not. Get a foot in the corner or jump over the pile ala Payton. No more plane of anything.

the rule seems bad. i'd really like to know why they implemented this process stuff. there has to be some purpose for it. but in the end, everything that dez does from the time he catches the ball to the time it hits the ground is the "process" of making the catch since momentum took him to the ground. since that was the case per the rule, its not a catch.

Here is what makes absolutely no sense. You have the "process of the catch" which causes the incomplete ruling for Dez Bryan't play. Then you have Josh Cribbs get hit and lose the ball, yet he is ruled down by contact. So there is no "process of the catch" when fielding a punt or a kick, but there is for a pass that is caught? I thought this was the most egregious call (or non call) of the game. That play was even reviewed! It was clear from every angle that the ball hit the ground. Funny how the last two 'playoff' wins for the Packers have been aided with very, very poor referee calls (Cobb and Bryant yesterday, and the pass/fumble against the Bears in week 17 last year)
