keep dst on all the time if you ask me. I like waking up in the dark every morning. I also like driving home in the light. I like eating dinner and it still being light out. the whole switch over is the most annoying part of the whole thing.

dst was supposed to be for enjoyment but also cut back on coal consumption I believe. they found that most people didn't worry about turning up heat in the morning, they just got up and went to work. leaving it lighter at night resulted in less power usage and was one of the reasons it was adopted. I think there was also studies like in the 1800's where people were generally healthier and happier with more time in the evening for daylight activities.

farmers used what they had. it really has never affected them. my wifes family has run a wheat farm for 100 years in CO. they got up before light and went to bed after light regardless of when it really was. today they can harvest and do whatever during early morning darkness or late evening darkness. gps runs all their equipment and even if not, the flood lights on these tractors could light a football field.

Despite your kind invitation, I shall not partake of any shenanigans in or around the molestation recliner.

If you know it's coming its no big deal really... This year was the first I could remember where I had no clue it was coming so when I woke up at 6:11 to catch the fc Barcelona game from ~10mins onward I saw the game clock at like 54:47 and was like "what the fuck? It started at 5am? I must have fucked that up" and went on with my day.

Then when I grabbed my phone and it said it was 7:43 and not 6:43 it was like "oh fucking hell" cuz I had to be somewhere circa 10am and that was a regular old shot to the Gulliver for you clockwork orange fans out there.

Of course we just pushed everything back 30-60 mins and quite honestly it's nice as hell (prolly literally too) that its light out til 7 as opposed to six. Now we can properly begin the march to June 21st where we shoot our wad with 930pm sunlight and the awesomeness of after-work/dinner basketball... THE WAY GOD INTENDED IT!

There should probably be a half-hour time zone between Central and Eastern, kind of like how Newfoundland is half an hour up on Halifax (which is an hour up on the rest of the east coast). It'd really fuck with TV, though.
