I was riding my bike down Lunt just now. Heading to the dead end at Sacramento where I was going to turn left. There was reasonably heavy traffic. People use Lunt like a superhighway and many fail to even stop at the stop signs. I was about fifty yards from the intersection getting ready to signal my left turn when this motherfucker started blowing his horn at me. I turned around and waved at him and he drove right up on me trying to hit me. I started yelling and he began yelling back. He swerved right and brushed my shoulder. I had to grab the bike and pull myself right. I told him to get out of the car. Thank God he didn't because he looked like a steroidal freak. Anyway, there was a guy playing ball with his kid who saw the whole thing and got his plate number.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but here's some advice for you young firefighters at home. If you're going to try to run people over, it's best not to have a vanity plate with your engine company on it.

The thing is, I'm not a militant bike rider. I think Critical Mass people are douchebags. I'm in my car way more than I'm on my bike. I often feel frustrated while driving when bikes are around me. But I don't try to run them off the road. I'm not exaggerating here. This guy was really trying to hit me. He actually screamed, "You tried to hit me!!!!"

I hate bicyclists when I'm driving my car, and I hate drivers when I'm riding my bike. I can't win/lose.

My only issue with bikers is the guys who fly through intersections after I have come to a complete stop and have now accelerated, but I need to stop again because the DB on his Little 500 racing bike with his messenger bag thinks the stop sign doesnt apply to him and he can zip on through.

Bikes do not belong on the road.

Wrong. Bikes are legal road vehicles in all 50 states. This is just claptrap anyway. Like saying the internal combustion engine should be outlawed.

I think that's normal. I feel the same way. Still, I've never tried to run anyone off the road.

The perception when you're in your car is that the guy on the bike is slowing you down. That's perception more than reality. It leads to dumb stuff like what Panther posted above. If half the people driving to work this morning were on bikes instead of in cars, the commute for those in cars would be much faster.

I agree that you rarely see a guy on a bike following the rules of the road. I follow them just as if I were in my car, with the exception of slow rolling stop signs when no one else is there which I believe is permitted for cyclists in Illinois. I don't want the other guy's right-of-way. I just want mine. But drivers are understandably so ready for you to do something stupid on your bike that they often want the cyclist to take the right-of-way.

 Really? Maybe the guy is just a Cubs fan and not a fireman. But I think it was a specialty firefighter plate.

I often wonder why Walt's GIFs are so spot on and hilarious when his written posts are so utterly moronic.
