nas this really isn't at all the same thing. a person who changes their sexual identity doesn't also bring lies about their background with it. the closest comparison was brandon teena and even she didn't try to grandstand about her past to make a point about who she was. and she wound up being murdered for being what she wanted to be. when bruce became caitlyn he didn't suddenly say he was raped, denied things because he was a woman, or anything that goes along with a background of abuse and misogyny.

if what she was doing was some kind of social experiment, like the female's version of "black like me" in order to expose racism, that'd be one thing. because that puts a mirror up to society. it looks like she just used it to get a position, and how much good does that do? there are honest people out there who can do a far better job i'm sure.

I doubt she aspired to be head of a local branch of the NAACP. She wanted to do work to advance issues that are important to minority communities. For whatever reason she believes that she identifies best as a black woman or would likely be accepted by many if she was. The reactions we've seen proves she was right.

Bruce and many members of the LGBT community have spent the majority of their lives lying about who they are. God created Bruce as a man. For a long time he truly felt that he was a woman but he lied about it.

I never denied that I would be hurt and pissed. Clearly I had already lost my daughter for her to do something like that. At that point I would have to decide if it's more important to make her hurt like I am or to find a way to repair our relationship. Having a relationship with my daughter would be more important.
