Swimmin' Marty.

They've started voice-tracking overnights and it's really distracting to hear songs run all the way out with no crossfades. Very sloppy. Norm would have gone in himself before he let a shift get automated.

XRT's Friday Feature this week is all of the artists playing their Holiday Jam concerts at The Vic this year:

- X-Ambassadors
- The Lumineers
- Alice Merton
- The Strumbellos
- Mondo Cozmo
- Joseph*

I've heard of The Lumineers, and they suck. Who the hell are the rest of these fucks?

Alice Merton wants you to know that she has no roots. I don't know who Mondo Cozmo is offhand now that I realized I was thinking of Milky Chance. The Strumbellas are Of Monsters And Men under an assumed name.

All these bands that sound like they have a choir singing. They all sound the same and they all suck.

That's her name? That song was fucking awful. It was an immediate PTFB when it came on.

Over the summer Tame Impala had a song Patience XRT drove into the ground. I kept thinking they dug up some song from the 70's. All I could picture was JORR, WWN and RR roller skating through the masses on a hot summer day along Lake Shore paths blasting the song on their boom box propped on Walt's shoulder.

It was an odd summer.

That copy of The Joshua Tree they played was damn near worn smooth.

Andrew Bird appears to have replaced the Strumbellos. Don't know who he is, seems like a fedora guy. '

Boy, what kind of favor did they have to call in to get Andrew Bird to open for Alice Merton? He could have headlined a Chicago Theatre show by himself.

This tripleheader of XRT filler bands was a mess from the outset. They overdid it and underdid it at the same time.

Hah. I just played side one yesterday as well.
I never noticed how much Shania Twain's 'team' stole the living shit out of the Uncle Salty verse.
Oh well, she was hot AF back in the 90s.

Quick programming note. All vinyl album sides all day this Thursday. Also would like to note red hot chili mess has been getting limited play of late. Except for last Friday. My guess is Telegram Sam tuned in and screwed it all up for the rest of us. If the chili's have a vinyl album AND you hear it Thursday, you know TS is dialed in.

They were going way too hard on the Chilis for a while there. It was real bad.

Definitely. Now it's Bowie and Cars for the oldies. I'm good if I never hear clairvoyants for a year or two too. Generally the playlist has been very balanced an enjoyable since the switch. Good stuff from 7 to 5.

Missed that...dud for me. Other than possibly Adele it's been good quirky fun. An album side of Zeppelin is just hard to beat when compared to the daily alternative.
