Mambo band music.

The Black Keys (who I like in occasional doses).

And as I get older a lot of Led Zepplin has sounded the same. Especially when Plant was allowed to "sing".

Clearly the prize goes to Back in Black-today AC DC because virtually everything is the same with every song with just the lyrics and chord patterns varying and they give zero fucks about it.

Green Day has quite a bit of variation between albums. Their early albums sounds like 1 run on song because it was written and recorded in like a week.

I do not like REM at all but they are all over the place. They have dick swinging jams like shiny happy people and music to die to like everybody hurts.

The band that I don't like that sounds exactly the same on every single song is the foo fighters. They are boring dad rock.

The band that I like that sounds the same on every song even though they have use 2 singers on each album is alkaline trio. I know what Skiba is doing on guitar when kind of tweaks his power chords and I love it but its super distinct and present in every song. Another band/singer I like that always sounds the same is Gaslight Anthem/Brian Fallon. The songs arent exactly the same but his sound is. I don't think he sounds at all like springsteen either even though many do.

As much as I love them, Dinosaur Jr has been treading the same water for the last 20 years.

I couldn't tell you anything about their recent work but I remember reading a review once where the guy said that J. never played a less than interesting solo in his life and I would agree with that.

Quite right. J's solos are always an adventure, but the 'songs' he's soloing on recently have become kind of boring. And I'm not the biggest Lou Barlow fan either. Oh well - last time I saw them was Summer 2018 at some microbrewery parking lot in Evanston. They ruled.

Me either. I never understood Sebadoh and I really, really tried. I'll say one thing though, not all his shit sounds the same!

I always considered him a tribute to the latter day Replacements.

I was being a little facetious, but Geddy Lee definitely sounds the same every song he sings.

I heard a Megadeath song on the way in to work this morning, and they are my offering.

I have to agree that personal preference is skewing some of your responses to date. As a BIG FAN of a couple of the bands listed, i can't think the author has heard much of the band's deep cuts.

In today's commercial music industry, how can we argue with the idea of making one successful song, then wanting to make ten more just like it? (see:DC,/AC)

Perhaps a better question would be "Which band has a sound unlike anything the world has ever heard before?"
