Ding Ding!

Very few tunes written in 5/4. The only other one that pops to mind is Mars by Gustav Holst.

As for covers of rock songs, most are frightening. I just unearthed an XTC cover album circa 1995 and it's not bad. However, it's not as good as the original songs, and therein lies the problem. It seems very hard to improve on the original worth covering in the first place in the genre of Rock and Roll.

Oxia "Domino" is a straight ripoff of Patrick Chardonnet's "Eve by Day"

Diddy's new target is dance music, with this single, "Let's Get Ill," where he bites Joey Beltram's classic "Energy Flash" for all it's worth.

The Jimmy Eat World version of The Wedding Present's "Spangle" was tolerable until it showed up in the 2002 cinematic adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' Rules of Attraction.

This Mortal Coil's 1991 cover album, Blood, contains some terribly overwrought versions of great songs, like "I Come and Stand at Every Door."

I was going to say either Fred Durst doing Behind Blue Eyes or Stairway to Heaven by Dolly Parton, but after watching what Krazy Ivan posted, that has to be #1

Not even close to top 100

I am a fan of the COVER 2 and such recordings as the Clash Tribute album, every cover on it sucks or a very recent CURE tribute. Once again everything sucks as well.

So many terrible covers it is a shame

Man, that's wild. What's your take? It's funny cause the record just came up in conversation due to mp3 trading with a friend. I was going to put Blood on the flash drive we use, but it took up too much room... I hadn't listened to it in a while, and when I did (to gauge whether it was worth including) I was really surprised by 1. how awful it sounds to me now, considering 2. how much I used to like it.

No disrespect, but I wouldn't have figured you for a This Mortal Coil "fan" (for lack of a better word). They're a pretty weird story / group / etc.

Edit: The original version of "Mr. Somewhere" is easily one of my Top 5 GOAT FTW. The record it's from, The Apartments' The Evening Visits... and Stays for Years is also great.

This is true. He's likely killed for less.

You've obviously never heard Patty Smythe's version.

"You're So Vain" by Faster Pussycat is a real treat too. NOT!

"Mrs Robinson" by Kik Tracee also.

I kind of enjoy the interpretations that make the song totally different.

'Satisfaction' by Devo anyone?

Stink turned me on to Patton Oswalt. In one of his comedy bits, he mentioned This Mortal Coil's It'll End in Tears CD. So I listened to it. I found some of the songs are good for background noise while coding, but otherwise your right, its not too much my thing.

Great call. Spaulding. I cannot believe how popular this pile of crap was when it come out. I love Lenny Kravitz. I love the original song by the Guess who, but this was absolute crap.

Worst? My first thought echoed HV with Winger covering "Purple Haze".

I'll also throw out there Pearl Jam's cover of "Last Kiss"... garbage cover of a garbage song.

I actually liked this one probably because it was done impromptu (it was for the 9/11 charity CD) and it actually sounded alright being done acoustically.
