Please do not ever put Aerosmith and Nickleback in the same sentence. Thank you.

I'm not saying I don't like Floyd. I'm just saying they're overrated.

I don't think you can compare LZ to the Beatles....
That is as fair as comparing Black Sabbath to LZ.
and the Stones? eh....never really cared for them.

Beatles had the most global impact on music. Sabbath created metal. LZ wrote the best rock songs.
and the Stones refuse to die... :P

This sums it up perfectly.

Pink Floyd at their peak and in their prime were unmatched. This is without question.

You don't notice the similarities?

1. They are both adored by white trash fans all across this country.
2. They both have a large mainstream appeal (for some reason)
3. They both are led by enormously douchey looking men.
4. Both should have been killed in plane crash.

I don't see any differences at all.

Agree on the Hendrix comment but why do you think the Doors would have faded? LA Woman was among their best efforts. And the band was solid beyond The Lizard King...particularly Manzarek.

I think that Jim Morrison would have faded. become a poet/painter/stopped touring, etc...
he already had moved to Paris.
just a feeling.

Without looking at the album a couple of my favorites off hand are
Happiness is a Warm Gun and Rocky Racoon.

Nah the bug would have kept him coming out.
Hendrix now there was a talent who look at and go wow if only.

J-Pasta, another couple of good albums to pick up from the Beatles were
the Anthology double album series that came out 10 years ago or so. I
have Anthology's 2 and 3 and there is a bunch of unreleased studio tracks
on there where the guys either make small mistakes or just improvise and
change lyrics and such. Some really interesting material on these discs
including a bunch of stuff from the White Album on Anthology 3. I bring
this up because there is a very memorable version of Rocky Raccoon on
there. Being a fan of this song, I actually prefer this version to the one
on the actual White Album. Why such surprise for liking this song EM?

T-Bone,
Yes,I have Anthology_2 only. At the time,I thought that had the best music. I will pick up Anthology_3 next time I see it (reasonably priced) I can't believe at my advanced age, I just now bought "The White Album". Lot of great songs on there that usually you don't here played on the radio.

Yeah, I would highly recommend #3. You'll be happy you picked it up. Lot of renewed interest
in the Beatles with their music coming out on the Rock Band video game. A lot of the kids playing
that probably have never even heard of the Beatles.

Martha My Dear is pretty weak. Looking at the tracks it is
hard to single one out as being the weakest. I may have to
bring this in to work this week for a spin.

I couldn't disagree more on Floyd man. PF ain't rock. It's not meant to compete with the likes of LZ and the Beatles or Sabbath and shit like that. They're like no other band. Its not to say that they didn't have their share of stuff that';s garbage really (for example groovin with a pict... I mean its cool if you're completely wacked on shrooms or something... once... but not for repeat play, not for driving and groovin) they did you know, all bands do. But what they did well they did VERY well, deep lyrics new sounds, new ideas.
You don't stay on the top 100 for 20 something years when you're overrated. Over rated lasts a couple years. That's not over rated, thats legendary.
