The Lido Shuffle beat is really fucking hard to play correctly. Easily faked, but Porcaro could just flat-out groove.

Unfortunate loss at a young age due to an odd gardening mishap.

And I know it’s been mentioned previously, but Fool in the Rain was part of the inspiration for Rosanna. In that same vein, Lido Shuffle is another gem by Porcaro.

The Lido Shuffle is one of my top guilty pleasures song wise.

It's also one of my favorite (failed) aldermanic bid campaign songs.

Ever been able to play 'Good Times Bad Times', Furious? Keep in mind Bonham did that with a single kick drum, not even a double pedal.

Back when I had the same squeaky Speed King pedal as Bonham, I sure couldn't. I could probably pull it off with a bit of woodshedding now since I've been practicing with a couple of bass drum practice pads.

Relatively speaking it's not that hard, but Bonham created it, although Carmine Appice may disagree.

The beat/sound on Rock & Roll is genius. Eight notes on the hi-hat and snare. He was a powerhouse.

Carmine Appice's best payday was playing "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" by Rod Stewart so I take his thoughts with a grain of salt.

I know he isn't a drummer, but fuck Rod Stewart. Nobody in the history of music has done less with more.

The Faces were great, but yeah, Rod's solo work is just decades full of shit.

Didn't he say Zep wouldn't have existed without Vanilla Fudge, or was it that Bonham wouldn't have amounted to anything without Carmine?

Family/band dispute it, and I understand why, but he had cocaine in his system and hardened arteries. Of course, inhaling pesticides probably didn't help.

Was being tongue in cheek ala Spinal Tap with that one.

Ive never seen this video but it appears to be a live version of it. Porcaro needed more camera time but you can see a bit of him playing it. All 3 Porcaro brothers in Boz' band. Gotta admit, I had some chubbage watching this. Boz Scaggs looks like a combo of Neil Diamond and the Bills' Jim Kelly. Also coked out of his gourd Im guessing. The fuckin' 70s man !!

The great alternative porn star, Mercy 44FF, played in high school marching band with Porcaro. She is an excellent drummer in her own right.

As for Grohl and the click I read an article in the past month or so that basically no one does not use a track anymore. Especially recording. Studio time without a click wastes tons of money. I couldn't believe to a man the reason the Chicago guys gave for canning their original drummer in the documentary was that he could not play to a track. The old fucks couldn't keep time anymore.

For recording a drummer who can't play with a click has no future in a serious band. Spinal Tap is right about the drummer being the first to go. Midi drums and drumming VSTs has made live drumming optional for a lot of recording projects. Recording live drums is typically the hardest part of recording an album in studio.
