You decide:

"Baby It's Cold Outside"

(I really can't stay) But, baby, it's cold outside
(I've got to go away) But, baby, it's cold outside
(This evening has been) Been hoping that you'd drop in
(So very nice) I'll hold your hands they're just like ice

(My mother will start to worry) Beautiful, what's your hurry
(My father will be pacing the floor) Listen to the fireplace roar
(So really I'd better scurry) Beautiful, please don't hurry
(Well, maybe just half a drink more) Put some records on while I pour

(The neighbors might think) Baby, it's bad out there
(Say what's in this drink) No cabs to be had out there
(I wish I knew how) Your eyes are like starlight now
(To break this spell) I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell

(I ought to say no, no, no, sir) Mind if I move in closer
(At least I'm gonna say that I tried) What's the sense of hurting my pride
(I really can't stay) Baby, don't hold doubt
[Both] Baby, it's cold outside

(I simply must go) Baby, it's cold outside
(The answer is no) Baby, it's cold outside
(The welcome has been) How lucky that you dropped in
(So nice and warm) Look out the window at the storm

(My sister will be suspicious) Gosh your lips look delicious
(My brother will be there at the door) Waves upon a tropical shore
(My maiden aunt's mind is vicious) Gosh your lips are delicious
(But maybe just a cigarette more) Never such a blizzard before

(I got to get home) But, baby, you'd freeze out there
(Say lend me a coat) It's up to your knees out there
(You've really been grand) I thrill when you touch my hand
(But don't you see) How can you do this thing to me

(There's bound to be talk tomorrow) Think of my life long sorrow
(At least there will be plenty implied) If you caught pneumonia and died
(I really can't stay) Get over that old doubt
[Both] Baby, it's cold
[Both] Baby, it's cold outside

Only if you're a militant man-hating lesbian or some ridiculous "ally" thereof.

general consensus among the women at the office party last night was that it was too rapey. IMO it's a little rapey. not over the top rapey. just the right amount of rapey.

One of the creepiest songs ever written.

Man trying to get woman to stay. It would appear that we never find out if she did or not.

Plus, she is enabling him:

Well, maybe just half a drink more
At least I'm gonna say that I tried
But maybe just a cigarette more

I see no problem here.

There's nothing "rapey" about it. Society expects a woman to put up token resistance lest she be branded a "slut". That isn't necessarily some "patriarchal" construct. Women are willing participants. Stop your benevolent sexism!

Because I do nothing if not write what I know, I wrote a new version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for dudes who have no game whatsoever:

"♫ I really can't stay... ♫"
"Oh. Okay. Well, uh, I...okay. I was just gonna...I was...okay. So, uh, drive safely, then."

And then the backing musicians all trail off one by one and then the guy mutters "maybe I should have at least hugged her."

To put the era it was written into perspective, no it is not too rapey.

To use modern society to fit it in, like the dipshit millennial couple did a few weeks ago when they re-wrote it, it's probably a little too direct, and maybe rapey.

That said, it's a classic song, and fuck PC.

The dipshit millennial guy is the one who sounds rapey. He may text her later to make sure she got home okay, but not without asking for feet pics.

i just found and read the "new" lyrics to this song, and that was a painful read. with the new lyrics, whats the point of the song? its verse after verse of this douchebag trying to show her the door and get her into her car so that she can die in a terrible wreck trying to drive home in a fucking blizzard, and then he can be criticized for the rest of his life for pressuring her to get behind the wheel while the weather channel is clearly telling them to stay off the fucking roads. now she is dead, and he has to carry that guilt around for the rest of his life.

ho ho ho

Scrubs was a great show thanks to the efforts of literally everyone involved with the show but Zach Braff.

It may be cold outside but I bet it's warm and toasty being chained so close to that furnace.

Those new lyrics blow.
Say what ever happened to the good old days so that when a man was ready to fuck the woman did what she was genetically evolved to do... acquiesce without question. These goddamn kids today are ruining the world. It'd be the end of the human race!

You should ask that of Julie via Twitter.

asked my wife if she had heard of all the hubbub regarding this song. She didn't know what I was talking about but said, "yeah, that song is creepy! I've thought that for years."

Let it snow is the PG version of this song. This song is getting right to the point. He's got an answer for every excuse. Let it Snow is just the guy crossing his fingers and hoping that the woman lets him stay.
