Isn't it time these old geezers finally hang it up? They're just embarrassing themselves, like Ozzy and Sabbath did on their last tour. When you have to tune everything down a full note or two because you can no longer play in the correct key, you shouldn't be playing at all.

I'm talking about the Stones, Robert Plant, Ozzy, Paul McCartney, the Who, Roger Waters, Metallica, AC DC, even U2. They're in it for the money grab and what fame and pampering they still can enjoy. Not one of these artists can say they produced any good material in the twilight of their careers, except Neil Young with "Living with War", which was decent.

Let's face it, "rock" is dead.

Rock is dead. we are like our grandmas listening to big band only we are even further removed from that time period than they were.

I could be cute and look for Morgan Freeman but I will just say "he's right you know".

I find it hard to blame these guys, the people still line up with their fistful of cash. If they couldn't sell tickets they wouldn't tour. We'd all be doing
the same thing these bands are doing if we could.

Even alternative/indie rock as a viable young-adult subculture seems next to dead. The only smart and with-it thing to do now is to squee about Beyonce and Taylor Swift.

Rube left out the worst offender, those spots for Brian Wilson at the Rosemont Theatre where he's just mumbling the lyrics to "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" but not quite getting them right. I know there are mitigating factors there but Jesus Christ.

Paul McCartney made over $100 million dollars touring in 2016. He'll be playing until they have to wheel is old ass out on stage.

Robert Plant does seem to be trying some different stuff in the twilight of his career, at least. U2 haven't been at the top of their game since '95 or so but they can go on. The Rolling Stones need to crawl in a hole and fucking die already, I cannot take it anymore.

I think Kansas is still kicking ass at Midwestern county fairs (and perhaps the Wednesday afternoon gig [after the hog-calling contest] at the state fair).

My daughter (who is fifteen) talked me into taking her to see Roger Waters this summer.....you don't want to know how much the tickets cost. However, the two songs I've heard off his new album don't sound bad....though they sound like tracks that didn't make it to Animals.

I just don't understand the hysteria over the speculation that the former members of Zep might come back for a gig this summer. They weren't good when they played the one-off gig at the O2 Arena in London back in 2008. Jimmy Page had delusions of grandeur of selling close-circuit tickets to the show at movie theaters. He can't accept that he's no longer relevant.

I saw Page and Plant in Chicago in '98 at the United Center, and it was one of my favorite shows along with U2 at Soldier Field around 2005 for the Vertigo tour. They should have quit then.

yeah, U2 should probably just call it a day. nothing to see here.......

(this was 2 days ago)

p.s. U2 played the United Center like 8 times for the Vertigo tour.....
it was 6 times, not 8

Nice. Stealthily one of the best JT tracks. U2 albums tend to put the best stuff up front, and The Joshua Tree is no exception having as it does one of the best songs of all time as the opener, but that's a terrific song that has never gotten nearly enough love.

Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie, of all people, made a song that sounds no worse than any other post-Rumours Fleetwood Mac songs. Good for them. I wonder if they're doin' it.

They just played the Civic Center here in April. $55, $75 and $95 tickets. Did the entire Leftoverture album. No thanks.

That's way too steep to yell "PLAY FREEBIRD" at them.

EDIT: oh, apparently that Buckingham/McVie album is effectively Fleetwood Mac without Stevie Nicks. hm.

Ray Davies has been consistently very good as a songwriter. I would gladly go see him again and again.

Couple things. Ray Davies album that just came out is getting panned.

Regarding Christine McVie, I saw a pic for the publicity of this latest album. I thought to myself not bad, would. Then upon reading further she is like 71.

The last two Metallica albums have been pretty good and I'll always stick up for U2 doing whatever the fuck they want to do but I'm having a hard time arguing against you about anyone else on your list.
