Paul McCartney wouldn't even make a top 5 of Beatles singers.

Freddie Mercury is 1.

Everyone else is in a distant battle for 2 thru 5.

I'm obviously joking, but he's a distant third behind Lennon and Harrison.

Yeah he's far and away the best Beatle singer. When he lets it rip on "Got to Get You into My Life," you can see the quality.

Freddie Mercury
Layne Staley
Debbie Harry
Roger Daltrey
Morrissey

All the best ones end in "y" I think

I've never minded bad voices. If someone's singing with a bad voice, I'm more interested in what they have to say.

For the older generation, I'd say Lou Gramm, Steve Perry, Freddie Mercury, Ann Wilson, and Roger Daltrey.

For current singers, I'll add:

Tommy Karevik (Seventh Wonder)
Russell Allen (Symphony X)
Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus)

I remember Jack white being interviewed by the sideline reporter at a Tigers playoff game(?) and the chick said I'm here with the singer for the White Stripes, he corrected her and said "vocalist". I thought that was a pretty interesting distinction he made.

I might have an issue with Daltrey. On all the live Who albums, he sounds . . . pretty bad. (Of course, the Who had some production problems both in studio and live. You can barely hear Keith Moon's drums on half of their albums.)

He sure as hell suited that band, though.
