One of the more glaring omissions in my library. Where do I start if I start at all?

Bee Thousand if you dig on lo-fi, Isolation Drills for the more polished sound. Listen to "Chasing Heather Crazy." Some great pop songs with this band. A lot of misses, too.

Mag Earwhig!, Earthquake Glue, and Motivational Jumpsuit are worthy listens.

Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, Under the Bushes Under the Stars, and Propeller are the 4 best proper albums IMO. All of these are pretty much classic lineup albums and precede the 2000-ish turn to more heavily produced arena rock. For stuff after that period, I actually like Do the Collapse a lot, in part for the crunchy guitar sound from the Ric Ocasek production and in part because even the mediocre songs have hooks that the majority of subsequent albums are lacking. The Human Amusements comp isn't a bad starting point either necessarily and can be used as a guide for whichever era you find most appealing. I have a soft spot for Vampire on Titus these days but that album's shit sounding even by their standards.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask, but boring. You won't miss anything by skipping.

This isn't my favorite band by any means. I have a hard time getting beyond a guy from Dayton singing in an English accent. But Pollard has written some great songs. My take on GBV is that there's a lot to wade through to get to the special moments. He could probably use an editor. Though I suppose for the hardcore fan the prolificity is part of the charm. It's not quite as bad as latter day Westerberg where an entire record is presented as a single track.

 Okay, as obvious as saying a pitcher is likely to have a losing record if he allows more "run support" than he receives.

i'm just saying, every single review of every GBV related album ever starts off with "but he needs an editor"
