Morissey
Dave Grohl
Billy Corgan
John Mayer
Kanye

I'm sure there are plenty more

morissey is always a jackass.

whenever musicians talk during a show i always think of dana carvey's bit on rock stars who like to say something before a song..."you know a long time ago there were lots of people...but that was a long time ago..."

I'm a big Pearl Jam fan but even I think that Vedder gets up on his soap box a little too often. Most of it is during breaks in the show so it is
relatively harmless but still....

Vedder & Bono for sure, at least during concerts. I don't care what they talk about off stage, but keep the political ramblings to the barest of minimums when you are on stage.

Springsteen and Bono talking all night is part of why you see them, though.

The list has to start with Ted Nugent, Hank Williams, Jr and for the past decade, Kanye

I'd add Sting and Bjork, though Bjork is funny (if unintentionally so).

Sting: the environmentalist who does luxury car commercials.

Maynard from Tool can start to get annoying when he's going on about the next song. "We tried to see this song different, from another light, vulnerable and..." Yeah, we get it, just play Sober.

I basically couldn't enjoy any music if I couldn't separate their B.S. from their performance. Springsteen, U2, R.E.M...

I like the live "Bullet the Blue Sky" where Bono goes on about televangelists, ending with, "well, the God I believe in doesn't take cash, MISTER!" We gotta have that.

i once went to a "talk" by one of my favorite guitar styling innovators Tom Morello. it was in chicago somewhere...i think University of Chicago. my buddy was like a huge activist and RATM fan (actually joined greenpeace after school) and it was the stupidest shit i'd ever heard. like i thought tom morello was a genius before that (ie went to harvard). i was a teenager, yeah fuck authority! but he just kept going on and on about all this bs (same stuff as in their music but when you aren't yelling without allen wrenches scratching guitar strings and feedback, it makes you sound maniacal)

he just droned on and on about how the only solution to the worlds problems with anarchy AND socialism. he had this crazy verbal diagram of how it would work. anarchy led socialism. yeah.
