Believe the hype, Melodrama is a really good album. I'd say a 7.5/10, maybe 8. "Green Light" is the one song I'd heard before the album came out and I wasn't sold on it. Now the fact that it's so oddly stitched together kind of works -- it's like "Paranoid Android" for moody teenage girls. "Homemade Dynamite" and "Liability" are my favorites, along with "Writer in the Dark," where she finally gets into her upper register and sounds like Kate Bush, which makes sense because she's always been Kate Bush + ironic detachment - leotard photoshoots. All in all it's good night driving music.

Top five on the year so far? Meh I dunno, In Spades and Goths are hard to top for me because they're two of my favorite bands, and I've really taken to the new Ryan Adams, so it's crowded at the top already. But I like it a lot.

her last album was great. Didn't know she had another, thanks for posting.

Even though I'm firmly committed to all country all the time I'll probably make an exception and buy this.

Been listening the last 2 days, album is fantastic. She's really unique and talented, a fabulous and too often rare combination these days.

Love "Liability".
