I'm going to a show there next month and have never been. Is it OK? Any tips for attendance (I have already moved)?

I went there a few years ago and would never go back. Mostly because the crowd control to and from the event was poorly planned. Sound quality was marginal as well. Might be better now though.

I haven't been there in years - at least since they expanded it, so I can't really comment on how it is now, BUT the backdrop of the skyline is great, and...well, that's about it. It's a pain in the ass to get to - if you drive there, you're stuck with Millennium garage parking, there is no incline in the non-pavilion pavilion seats, and at the time, anyway, the stage was a temporary fixture.

In a word: SUCK(ED). Its only saving grace is that the Hollywood First Midwest Tweeter World Music Theater Center Amphitheater sucks about as bad for different reasons.

Only been there once. Not dying to go back. Parking is non-existent. Our night wasn't bad in terms of sound, but I've been told windy nights can muffle sound.

Since the stage was rotated it is a lot better. If you are in the seating area, it sounds fine. never been on the lawn. park in the underground lots at soldier field and walk over.

Mine will be slightly different: Cold War Kids & Young the Giant

I'll be there on the 9th. Don't trash the place!

I saw a concert many moons again at the rear of Navy Pier. Why did they need another outdoor music venue?

Your show sounds much better.

UPDATE: The venue is pretty cool. It's much smaller than I thought. No one checks your tickets except for the "pit" area. If the show isn't sold out, buy 300 level tix and just move up.

And holy crap are drinks expensive there! $13.50 for a tall boy or $14.50 for a standard craft brew can. $19 for a Tito's and lemonade (granted it was 85% vodka, 15% lemonade).

I couldn't get a good handle on the acoustics. Cold Wars Kids had an odd sound to them (very thin), but Young the Giant sounded great. I chalked it up to bad/good mixing.

Overall, it's a cool venue. Would go back (and smuggle alcohol in).
