He's obviously the most important guy in CSN, at least until they added the Y. He wrote "Eight Miles High", "Wooden Ships", "Deja Vu", "Almost Cut My Hair", "Long Time Gone", and "Triad". Plus he actually helped make the Grateful Dead listenable.

These threads would have been great if the names were spelled wrong.

Eight Miles High was the Byrds, but still a good song. Wooden Ships and Long Time Gone are both great.

But obviously most important guy, no. And neither was Young. In the end, Crosby was relegated to back-up singer for Stills. Too many drugs.

Still a legend, though.

Crosby can't sing now. There's a number of live shows where he sounds completely tuneless. Never was the best vocal in any of his bands to begin with.

I know "Eight Miles High" was the Byrds. It was co-written by Crosby. As for Crosby being a backup singer for Stills, . Crosby was easily the best singer in the band and sang the lead on many tracks.

Disagree. He was the best singer in CSNY and second best in the Byrds to Gene Clark. He taught Garcia and Weir how to sing.
