So much good music in the 90's- peak alternative/grunge and rap, country mixing pop music in, and the rise of the high note r&b artists.

Releasing sampled hip-hop without having to pay the rights holder had another year to go before the courts put the kibosh on unlicensed sampling in music. Sorta how the 60's (musically) don't really begin til 1964 and then run until '73 (Dark Side of the Moon, debuts from Queen/Aerosmith and then the impact of the oil embargo if ur talking broader than music). According to this line of thinking, the 70's spill over into the 80's, til around 83, with Run DMC's and Madonna's debuts and VH's 1984. Thriller released late '82, didn't blow up right away.

Even more so when I go back and watch their live shows from before they started doing arenas (the Ritz 1988 GnR show that's all over the internet) Tho November Rain reminds me of the way 80's metal bands always had a sappy ballad on their post-break-through albums. Even Motley Crue had 'Home Sweet Home'. Great tune regardless, November Rain

I dont think November Rain is as much as sappy ballad like the 80s stuff. If anything that was Sweet Child O Mine...but Nov Rain was more of Axl's desire to expand their focus into some docu drama type things. I would imagine Axl would absolutely cringe at it being called an 80s sappy ballad But as you said, great tune no matter.
