I can't really answer this question. There are so many great pop songs. This one is pretty perfect. Especially for a guy who grew up when and where I did. This could be my life when I was 13-17 years old.

WLS used to do a Top 100 of the year countdown to New Years on December 31st. Back in 1979 we had another family over with their kids to celebrate NYE, and everyone was listening to the countdown, and we all guessed what was #1. I was the only winner, my giant claim to fame, and connection to My Sharona....

I'm not saying that it's not a great song on it's merits, but it was a radio (i.e. pop) song for it's time.

The first single I ever bought was "Dance With Me". Got it at Turnstyle on Skokie Blvd.
