After seeing the Rangers ballpark I'm hoping concerts are a go for the summer. I'm ready to take road trips to Wisconsin if Chicago lets us down! Whoop whoop!

Talked with a friend who is pretty tied into the Summerfest org....they're planning for All systems Go this year, but still constrained by the city of Milwaukee. Hoping that works itself out.

I have tickets for a show at Red Rocks in Colorado in early July. I am still feeling like they are going to postpone for 2nd year in a row. Summerfest has been bumped back to the first 3 weekends in September so that seems like it would have a better chance of happening at some kind of level.

I'm planning on seeing Wilco in Maine towards the end of the summer and Steve Earle in Rhode Island (June) or New York (September).

So, you guys think September is the earliest we will see bands start tours? I was hoping to see Guns N Roses in Indi, but that is scheduled for July.

i think it will. milwaukee is basically it's own state... but the party scene is massive and they are not going to lose another precious summer. plus, tons of districts are now admitting that outdoor gatherings are not an issue. even dane county, the most cunt leaking hole on the planet, is now allowing gatherings of 500 people outside with no restrictions. as long as the numbers stay where they are, i would imagine were mandate free by june. i mean, most of the state already is.

These drive-in shows just sound incredibly lame. I want to support these artists, and I've probably seen Local H over 50 times in my life, but I just can't make myself want to go. Just make up some more bullshit merch I can spend my money on.

This is how I feel about entertainment in general, i.e. dining out, etc. I want to put money in the pockets of these people. But not just to do it. I've done a lot of that during the pandemic already. If you aren't giving me an enjoyable experience, I'm not going to show up just to help you stay in businesses. I'm the customer. I don't want the guy taking my money giving me rules.

And look, I get that the business has to make the call. Do they want to serve people like me, or uptight afraid people. If they don't want my business, I'm fine with that. It's not a disaster for me like it would have been when I was 25 years old. Right now if I'm rating experiences on a scale of 1-10, sitting on my couch reading or watching TV is about a 7.5. So I'm not going to go drop a couple hundo for a 4 or 5 experience. You better be offering me an 8+. You're in the hospitality business. I don't find it hospitable to be watched like a hawk and scolded about a mask. Maybe you can be successful doing that and a lot of people will appreciate your "safety". Just not me.

It's rough...someplaces are really trying but I get what you are saying. What would make it an 8+ in your opinion?

We went out for easter, I left a good tip. I was thanked specifically by staff, my husband prodded me - not in a sexy way. They were there in shitty conditions, on a holiday, with less volume. Don't punish the people who are already being punished.

Right off the bat you can't act like I'm coming into your place as nothing more than a disease carrier. That's how I felt when we went out for Easter. It was in Evanston so it wasn't like it was a total surprise. I've had a lot of good experiences at the place so I'm not going to blast them on the Internet, but this experience was definitely less and the prices were exactly the same.

I was in Lombard and I didn't have a vibe either way. Our server was...idk he seemed sad like all of it was frustrating and overwhelming and the last year was shitty. He knew it in some ways and said this is all different blah blah blah. Little distracted in some ways. He did not do entree roulette which is an industry faux paus and not uncommon with even really good servers.

I know. You live where you live. Most hospitality people don't want to do this hoop jumping. It sucks.

Saw a Kiss tribute band at Austin's in Libertyville last weekend. Things are still a little different and they have reserved seating, but it was enjoyable. Wasn't a whole lot of mask hysteria from the staff. I was told the night before was a different story.

Wisconsin will most certainly be up and running before IL. I don't care too much about the large places, but it's nice to be able to go to smaller places that have live music. I know my band has stuff booked already, as does Harvard Dan next weekend.

I'm guessing the big bands aren't going to tour in 2021 unless they have all 50 states on board. Too big of an operation to do Wisconsin and Florida alone and then shut it down, but it would be nice if the bands who normally play 2500-5000 seat venues play the more conservative states. You gotta think those bands are ready to do any gig they can.

My wife has still got around $500 in limbo for tickets for BTS at Soldier Field from a show that should've happened last summer and hasn't been rescheduled yet. I could buy a guitar or a lot of beer with that money. Drat.

It's possible. They make my wife and daughter very happy, so I'm not gonna shit on them. She (they) have more BTS merch in the last 3 years than I have U2 merch over the last 35 years, so as Kip Dynamite might say.......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzmPQlwZkkg
