Between 73 and 74 when Ed King was still in the band? Were they pretty good live?

Potential here for a 'Did anyone see the original Lynyrd Skynyrd alive?' parody thread.

I'm old as fuck. In 73, I was in 8th grade. So no, nobody saw them.

First concert I ever saw at a large venue. But it was about ‘88.

So, no. But we were at Poplar Creek about 15 feet in front of a speaker and a bunch of dudes smoking weed in front of us. Probably got high from the smoke and had significant ringing in my ears for 4 days. Wasn’t sure if my hearing would ever be normal.

Ballad of Dr. Ken.

We don't have any guys in their 70's on this board?

I suppose it depends on how long it took Nardi to get through 8th grade.

The Hawk, he of the Yermin Mercedes Hawks, would qualify, but he got run off because some of his best friends were colored.

Simple Man
Ballad of Curtis Loew

But I love “Was I Right or Wrong”. That song is real.

Simple Man is arguably the greatest song of all time and should be taught at all levels of school for the sheer benefit of weeding out the ratfuck Bernsteins of the world.

Probably not a good look to admit you like this band and the flag
And south and all.

Well I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don't need him around anyhow

Another great skinard tune.

Yep, Aragon Ballroom in '74. Charlie Daniels, REO and Locomotive GT opened. I was born in '54, so still have a few years before I hit 70. :D

I'm skeptical. He called it the Ballroom, not the Brawlroom.

Still can't believe this album cover. Steve Gaines engulfed in flames with his eyes shut. Released 3 days before the crash

I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
And the band that I was in played "The Boy's are Back in Town"

So I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd
But I sure saw Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoads in 82
Right before that plane crash.

Good one, REO was so damn loud that night, everyone in our group wanted them to get off the stage It was a painful set. The only band louder in my concert going experience was Thin Lizzy at the Riv in '76. My ears haven't stopped ringing.

Loved the original LS. They opened with Workin' for MCA, played Ballad of Curtis Loew, Tuesdays Gone, it was a great show.

This describes my Rolling Stones experience to a T except it was 93 or 94 and it was Soldier Field. So maybe not to a t but same after effect. Didn't need to replace the engine on your car after the concert did you? Not sure how THAT happened but that was the cherry on top of the evening. Thanks 100k mile power train warranty.

My loudest was AC/DC at B.Ginnings in Schaumburg. I think '78. Could have been '79.

Sounds like it was time for them to fly.

REO used to play weddings downstate when they were starting. Before my time but my brother saw them there.
