Post subject:  John Paul Jones

He just recently performed in Tennessee. I wish I could have been there to see him. He never sought the spotlight but just made great music. Even before he was with Zep, he was a session musician, doing things like string arrangements for the Stones on She's a Rainbow. It was John Paul Jones's idea to use the recorder on Stairway to Heaven, which worked fantastically. IMHO, his best work was his organ and synthesizer playing on Your Time is Gonna Come, Thank You, Rain Song and his bass playing on Ramble On and even Hey Hey What Can I Do.

Here are two songs he played, first an organ instrumental of Your Time is Going to Come. The second is the bass line from Ramble On.

He's still got very nimble fingers for being 78 years old.
