I thought this was rather odd. Ament is a big guy too.

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament mugged in Atlanta
Posted 23h 57m ago
ATLANTA (AP) — Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was mugged outside an Atlanta studio where the band is recording, police said.

Three masked men dressed mostly in black came out of the woods behind Southern Tracks recording studio and attacked Ament and employee Mark Anthony Smith as they arrived in a rented Jeep late last month, DeKalb County police said.

Police say the men smashed three of the Jeep's windows and grabbed a Blackberry and two computers and demanded money. Ament jumped out of the passenger side and tried to run, but one of the men knocked him to the ground and stole his passport.

The men got away with $3,000 cash, along with computers and other equipment worth more than $4,000. Paramedics treated Ament for head injuries.

Surveillance cameras recorded the incident but no one has been arrested. Pearl Jam management had no comment Thursday.

Southern Tracks is a studio in north Atlanta that's worked with artists including Aerosmith, Stone Temple Pilots and Bob Dylan. Rolling Stone reports Pearl Jam is working on an album they plan to release themselves in the United States.

I doubt it will suck Chas. As far as current rock bands go Conan could have done
much worse than booking Pearl Jam. They are still a relevant band and their live
performances are very good. I enjoy Conan's brand of comedy and I wish him well.
He will be trying to entertain a much different audience so it will be intersting to see
how much he changes his schtick to appeal to the masses.

Wasn't the best live performance ever but the band itself
sounded great. Couldn't pick up on some of the vocals but
it definitely appears to have a heavier edge to it judging
by that first song. Just waiting for a release date. Album
is called "Backspacer" I think.

I think we are going to the Friday show, and if so, this will be my first Pearl Jam experience.

SET
Long Road, Corduroy, Why Go, Gods' Dice, Dissident, Small Town, Sad, The Fixer, Given To Fly, Happy Birthday to Mike Richter (Sung by the crowd to Jeff's friend), Come Back, Even Flow, Save You, In Hiding, Man Of The Hour, Insignificance, Got Some, Spin The Black Circle

Encore 1:
Love, Reign O'er Me (The Who cover) Life Wasted, The Real Me (The Who cover), Alive
Encore 2:
The Needle and The Damage Done (Neil Young cover, Eddie solo), Rats, Supersonic, Smile, Rearviewmirror
Encore 3:
Yellow Ledbetter (with Star Spangled Banner)

First off, this was one of, if not THE, loudest show I have ever been to. Bad Religion opened, and they were pretty good (and fucking LOUD!)...though that kind of punk is not my cup of tea. Most of the crowd didn't care about them, but thats the risk you take when you open for a band as big as PJ.

If the UC wasn't sold out, it was at 99% capacity minus the seats behind the stage. I could see the 300 level was packed, and there were even some 10clubbers that got 300 level tickets, so I was really happy with my seats.

Today will be my 8th time seeing PJ, and with yesterday being the 7th, all of the songs in bold are the ones I have never seen them do live....so I had a few treats. Even though I've seen Man of the Hour, Sad, and Smile, they are still pretty rare so I was very pleased with the set. For the most part, it seemed that the crowd was really into every song, even some of the new ones and rare ones. Granted, I was in the fan club section but still, nobody seemed bored during any number.

Two of the first things that really jump out at you is how animated these guys are on stage. I mean, they are well into thier 40s, and they were still bouncing around and jumping like they did back in 1992 (minus the stage diving and climbing the lighting rigs). The last couple of tours, Stone kinda stood around like an old man but he was all over the place this time. Mike by far as the most crowd interaction, but he was running in circles around the stage, playing while laying in the ground during 'STBC', and played the first half of the 'Alive' solo behind his head. The second thing you notice is Eddie's voice. You'd think that by the time you get near 45, the throat might start to go a little bit, especially with the smoking and wine drinking he does, but that was not the case. I suppose it could have just been a "good day" (I'll see how his voice is later tonite) but my god he was hitting every note and scream right on the money. Even the 2 Who covers, both of which really test his range, he was spot fucking on.

The 3 new songs (in italics, from the new album coming out Sept 20th) sounded really good. They really translated well live and if those 3 songs are any idication of how this new record is going to sound, its going to be like the second coming of "Vs." Stone jumped on the bass and Jeff played guitar on 'Smile.' The 2 Who songs were played beacuse "those were the songs I listened to while waiting for the EL to take me to work in the fucking 40below" (Eddie grew up for a few years in Evanston). "Needle" was dedicated to Micheal Jackson. Jeff was really touched that everybody sang 'Happy Bday" for his friend. The last choruses of 'Even Flow' and 'Small Town' also had Eddie turn the mic over to the crowd.

Eddie seemed to be having mic trouble, because they switched his mic at least 3 or 4 times during the show...including after 'Alive' when he smashed the micstand into the stage. He also had his earpieces hanging at his side for most of the encores. He passed his wine bottle to the front row during 'Come Back'. Mike had to swap guitars in the middle of a couple songs too. 'In Hiding' was a special treat, and you could tell Stone took great joy in playing his song in Chicago for the first time since 2000.

All in all, a terrific show. One of the top 2 that I've seen. My ears are still ringing, I'm dead tired from the show, and 27 holes of golf this weekend, but looking forward to round 2 in about 12 hours!

Nice review. Set list looked really good as well. I'll have to see what the set list
looks like tonight and may buy a bootleg of one of the shows. Likely last nights
judging on the songs played. Have a great time tonight, you are going to be
gassed tomorrow.

If they put these shows out on "Bootlegs" like they have done in the past, I will be buying both shows and am more than happy to burn a copy for anybody that wants one.

I will post another full review tomorrow, but I will say this. Tonight was the 9th time I've seen Pearl Jam and it was the best show that I've seen...by far.

The Monday night Pearl Jam show was incredible. No Jeremy. No Baba O'Riley. But they played everything else that wasn't played Sunday night.

If Frank doesn't post a review, I'll have some thoughts tomorrow.

Frank, it was my 4th show, but it was the best show I've been to as well. And I was at Alpine in 2000 for the cold show.

I posted a review for Sunday's show, I'm too tired to type up a full one now. Other than the 2 new songs, Alive, and Coduroy, not a single repeat.

I have been to:

Alpine Valley 2000
Champaign 2003
Chicago 2003
Alpine Valley 2003
Missoula 2005 (1st row in front of McCready)
Chicago 2006
Chicago 2006
Chicago 2009
Chicago 2009

The Sunday show review was really good, so I'll defer to you for the Monday show review.

I was at Alpine 2000 show, Lolla 2007, and Sunday and Monday's United Center shows. I went to one of Vedder's solo shows last year.

Hmmm..... judging by Monday night's set list I think buying both bootlegs when
available should be a must have for any Pearl Jam fan. Looking forward to the
full reviews by those that attended. Only songs I didn't see played that would
have been cool were Footsteps and Blood.

Set List: Hard To Imagine, Corduroy, In My Tree, Last Exit, All Night, Nothingman, The Fixer, Even Flow, Present Tense, Whipping, Not For You/(Modern Girl-Sleater Kinney), Daughter/(Another Brick In The Wall part 2-Waters), Brother, Gone, Got Some, Do The Evolution, Alive

1st encore: No More, Comatose, Grievance, Black, The Real Me (Townshend), Porch

2nd encore: Wasted Reprise, Better Man/(Save It For Later-Charlery, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling), Crazy Mary (Williams), State Of Love And Trust, Fuckin' Up (Young), Yellow Ledbetter/(Star Spangled Banner)

Bad Religion is opening for PJ again? Have they run out of bands to tour with?

RPB, you make a good point. I won't speak for Frank and I know it's easy for me to get all excited about the show, as it was my fourth PJ show. But I do feel that it will be in the team photo of best concerts I've attended. It was just one big rocker from start to finish.

On a side note, I just want to see them play Baba. Just once.

Listening to the Live at the Gorge 7 disc set today. Good set of concerts but these
Chicago shows sound like they would probably top what I am listening to.
