I'm looking for suggestions for a Summer tunes mix (think sitting by the beach or in a boat sipping Margaritas). Like many on this board I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, but I'll be the first to admit that my exposure to what I would term modern music is somewhat limited (for perspective, modern to me is anything recorded this decade). However, I'm still interested in musical opinions from all eras since there may be some songs I haven't considered. Top 10 lists maybe?? Thanks in advance :alien:

Let's go back to the summer of 1976....

Stuffed in the back of the Toyota station wagon with my brother while my parents took us on the Bicentennial road trip from Texas to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, VA, MD, etc etc...I learned all the words to the summer anthem that year...but didn't understand the lyrics until I was in college....

For your consideration, I present the one hit wonder from the Starland Vocal Band...... Afternoon Delight!

Homebrew by 311. "4th of July, Lucy in Sky, I remember pine trees and a coat of many colors..."
Sun-Eyed Girl by Beck. another duh
My own summer by Deftones. The shade, is a tool. A device, a saviour. See i try, and look up. To the sky, but my eyes burn..

These came to mind quickly.

Another post inspired me to revisit my Van Halen catalog. I was reminded that VH II has always equated summer to me, specifically Beautiful Girls and D.O.A.

While its more personal and not really a summer song in the traditional sense, but 30 Seconds to Mars, The Kill.

Jane Says would be a decent Summertime song if you wanted to add it.

You can always try http://yachtrock.com and tell me what you think.

Big ups for listing individual songs on youtube to the prior poster. This song is good too.

yeah, "last splash" is great. "the invisible man" is one of my favorites from them.

another one, and maybe it was because i was at the beach all summer when it came out...but prodigy's "fat of the land" was great summer music. especially "climbatize".
