This new Imagine Dragons song sounds like dubstep Red Hot Chili Peppers. This band isn't good, they're just loud. "Believer" is just someone screaming two inches from your face for four minutes.

Remember when rock bands used to have actual drummers, and not just the percussion section from a high school marching band?

I didn't know that was a trend. Sounds like something I'd dig but this band really blows. WHATEVER IT TAKES BRO

Maybe I worded it wrong.
Seems every beat these days is just a big booming marching bass drum and sometimes a tamborine for the 2 and 4.
Maybe I worded it wrong again.......

Yeah, it's a shame he's not in a real band......

I am woefully behind on new releases. It's at the point where I don't even know where to start.

Dude, I really can't recommend Beach House "7" enough.
I fell in love with this band in approx. 2013 when Bloom was already out and I think I started seeing their name more and more.
I think it was the Coachella 13 webcast that sold me. I worked backwards from Bloom and have gotten everything since then.
They kind of get accused of sounding the same all the time, but each record since Teen Dream has been an improvement on what came before it, and "7" is about as good as they get....until they top it in a couple years or whatever when they put another new record out.

I saw Kacey Musgraves on SNL a couple days ago, and decided to give her new album a listen today, because I liked the 2 songs she played on TV. 'Golden Hour' is pretty fantastic from start to finish, and I think she's lumped into the 'country' category because she's from Texas and she plays with Nashville guys. Her vocals seem so effortless, I read one of her main influences is Alison Krauss, and it shows.
She just writes great songs, she has a great voice that doesn't rely on autotune at all, I really liked it.

Keep your ears peeled for something new from MBV soon....I think it's gonna be an EP.

Not sure what to make of this. It sounds like dudes trying to do Tune-Yards. Dude-Yards?

It's very good. Wish it had a few more tracks on it but happily surprised he had a new out after a solid effort last year.

If he puts out an album with 10 new songs every year, I'm not bitching.

311 tried to do something like that in the mid or late 2000s... an album each summer with 8-10 new songs. It lasted like two years and they admitted they couldn't do it.

But Tillman now has 3 great albums in 4 years. Pretty good.

How the hell did I miss the boat on this record for almost a year?

What was the point of making such a huge fucking deal about James being back in the band if all this is is a Zeitgeist reject with no discerning trace of Iha(not there ever was much of one to begin with)? It just sounds like Billy playing shitty boutique guitars through a computer program instead of the unmistakable vibes of Strats thru marshalls. And dare I say, Jimmy's playing is too busy for a song this boring?
I have no idea why Rick Rubin is still supposed to be some kind of savant whisperer, because this sounds like it was recorded in about 3 hours in a Full Sail classroom/studio.
I don't hate it, but if I never heard it again that would be fine too.
:(

Jim James - Uniform Distortion

I really like Jim James but not sure what to expect with this one. Not the greatest review online.

I celebrate Elvis Costello's entire catalog.
Fell in love with him when I was about 15 when I got Spike on cassette at Omni in Round Lake Beach.
Anyone remember Omni?
I used to religiously read Rolling Stone and Spin as a kid, mostly for the reviews, and I was beginning to
branch out and paid special attention to their 4 star reviews.I saw him at Alpine Valley in 1991 and then at The World in '94 (front row)
He is an amazing performer and he's one of my favorites.

One of my all time favorite artists.
I could listen to this album all day.
See her in concert if you can....it's part musical mastery and part stand up comedy that is uplifting and depressing as fuck at the same time.

I gave his previous one exactly one listen before dismissing it.

mewithoutYou - [untitled] e.p. ...surprisingly released today, ahead of a new album in October.
