"Mysterious Ways" isn't bad if you imagine that it's about cunnilingus.

Hey RPB, off topic but I was trying to remember a song you posted in a thread about music you're embarassed to like.
It was some Chicago bar band, but I can't find the thread.
I think the lyrics were something like "like the sunshine I am golden" or some shit.
Do you remember what it was?

Hello Dave

It really is amazing how you can hear the difference between the real and the phony. It's very hard to conjure emotion. You listen to the shit he actually knows and feels like the stuff about the Troubles and he really puts it across. With something like "Pride (In the Name of Love)", he may as well be singing a jingle for floor polish.

I think maybe they were trying to bring up the mood from War

But you're right about that song vs a bunch of other ones you can tell are meaningful to him

IMO, there is really only one poster in this thread whose thoughts on music should be dismissed out of hand, and his name isn't IMU.

I don't quite understand this comment, but if you feel we're not talking about music properly, perhaps you could instruct us?

Nah - closer to "Benny Dancer" by Robin Trower.

I haven't heard a new U2 song since around the time that came out. At least...I don't think I have. I'm sure there is a lot of bad on that album and every album after.

But Vertigo is baaaaadddddd.

Yes. Yes it is.
NO way! Its got BB King!

I have never liked 'With Or Without You.' I don't think its their worst, but for me its one of the move over rated/loved songs of all time. Then again, my favorite album of theirs is Pop, so what do I know?

Lemon (actually, almost all of Zooropa) and 'Stuck in a Moment...' are pretty fucking brutal.
I also dislike 'New York' just because of Boilermaker Rick.

'Stuck in a Moment...' would get my vote with 'Stand Up Comedy' being close behind.

Have to disagree with 'Zooropa', I found it fabulous. But I do agree on 'Pop' as it's pretty damn great.

Most of my "Most Hated U2 Songs..." come from ATYCLB, HTDAAB and NLOTH.

There were some clunkers on Rattle & Hum but it was a good album overall, I actually respect what they tried to do with it and of course I like where it led them next.

"Lemon" is okay. Just okay. "Stuck in a Moment..." does nothing for me either. But I unapologetically love "With or Without You." It's a perfect song.

The worst U2 song is probably either "Vertigo" or some random b-side or some other cut off How to Dismantle. Bad U2 is like bad Simpsons; I just don't give it any thought and concentrate on all the good.

New York features some of Bono's worst lyrics.
That's a song I don't listen to for the words.
The band was fucking amazing on that track.

Do You Feel Loved is mostly ignored, from an ignored album, but I would put that in my top 10 U2 songs ever.

I've seen "Rattle and Hum" recently. There are some very Spinal Tap-esque nuggets in there. Some movies like "Purple Rain" don't hold up well. "Rattle and Hum" works pretty well as a comedy the second time around.

The concert footage is awesome if you like the band. And its mostly Bono, there are parts where you can tell the band is laughing at itself (musical journey)

Come to think of it, "New Year's Day" is a really crappy song.

Ever see them live or listen to the Under a Blood Red Sky version?

I dont care much for the album version actually. Live version is more bass and tighter less over the top piano.
