I can't believe I'm the only one who says it's Party Girl. Listen to that shit and tell me I'm wrong.

I would probably agree but I never listened to that song.

If I lived another 100 years and didn't hear one note from U2 that'd be nice.

Not arguing their status as all-timers ... just not innerested.

It's a B-side to a non-album single. It's not great, but nothing worth pointing to as their worst. You could throw a dart at a board covered in Pop through Songs of Innocence song titles and probably land on something worse.

Oh, and fuck all the haters, I still love this band. And yes, I'm including myself, the guy who just said their last 20 years of output had a lot of crap.

It's like my lack of shame regarding my Foo Fighters love...even if everything since The Colour and the Shape sounds exactly the same.

Might as well throw October in there, too

October isn't bad, per se, it's just worse than the albums directly before and after it. There are like four good songs. I think that was the one where someone stole Bono's notes and they had to rewrite it from memory in the studio.

Method Man lost his whole first album in a flood and had to do it over.

Unless they were trying to be ironic, it's Stuck in a moment you can't get out of.

U2 cut 2s always get sandwiched between classic 1s and 3s: "Seconds" between "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day," "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" between "Where The Streets Have No Name" and "With Or Without You," "Twilight" between "I Will Follow" and "An Cat Dubh," and the aforementioned between "Beautiful Day" and "Elevation."

Except for the 2 perfect albums where they are both jams

I like Stuck in a Moment though. I like INXS a lot too.

INXS is one of the few big New Wave bands I just have no time for whatsoever. Not interested.

I assume Achtung Baby is one of your perfect albums, but would you agree that it would have made a whole lot more sense if "One" were on Rattle and Hum and "God Part II" were here? I know "One" was the song that saved the sessions but sonically it just doesn't belong. And I don't like it very much.

I agree.

But I like how it worked out. You get a little AB preview and a little JT memory.

I'm sure I've asked, but have you gotten into any of Brian Eno's solo work? Lots of little previews of 1984-1995 U2 in there.

Not as much as I should have by now. Ive listened to him but never dedicated any time. Considering all he has to do with so much of my favorite music, I should probably give it a whirl.

Another Green World is one of the greatest albums of all time, of course, but Before and After Science is really good too. I think Pitchfork rated them 10.0 and 9.3 when the reissues came out and that sounds right on to me.

The ambient stuff isn't for everyone but "Evening Star" from the album of the same name has some great guitar work from Robert Fripp and Music for Films is a little more accessible than others.

I never really thought of that...... Good point.
One is probably the only war horse that's kind of lost it's luster for me.
It was amazing when AB first came out, and I saw Zoo TV at the Horizon for the inside show, and 2 of the 3 Outside Broadcast
shows at The World, and One was always played early in the set. Now it's become "Ok, we can beat traffic now if we leave, they haven't played 'One' yet.....".
I still love the song, but eh?
I used to feel that way for quite some time about ISHFWILF, but for some reason, as I've gotten older, I love that song more now than ever.

Anyway.....Worst U2 song(s)?
In no order:
Miami (it's kinda cool, but it's NOT a song)
Stand Up Comedy (What were they thinking?)
Electrical Storm (Good chorus, boring ass verses)
The Hands That Built America (flat out fucking sucks)
New York (great instrumental, really suffers from bad lyrics)

It really seems like their days with Eno/Lanois are over now, so I'd encourage those of you who hated (or didn't ever listen to)
No Line On The Horizon to give it another chance. I count 4, maybe 5, songs on it that I would consider to be canon.
No Line On The Horizon, Breathe, Unknown Caller, Magnificent, and (in my top 5 U2 songs EVER) MOMENT OF SURRENDER.
Sad thing is, they'll probably never play ANY of those songs live again.
But I saw all 3 Chicago 360 Tour shows, so that will have to suffice.

There are two versions of "Electrical Storm." I like both, but the one that starts with a guitar riff is better than the one that starts with a synth pad.

Yeah, I was so used to hearing the William Orbit mix, I forgot about the other one.
WAYYYYYYYYYYY Better.

This doesn't belong in the "Worst Song by U2" thread, but here's some new stuff and it sounds quite promising.
