That you've never bothered to correct when you sing in the car, out of habit or you like your version better.

I'll soon be with you, my love,
To give you my dong surprise.

The song makes a lot more sense like this, knowing Elton John's platitudes on the subject of male bonding.

I think Sam was looking for lyrics we have personally misheard rather than these famous ones. I can think of a couple of my own.

In the Michael Jackson song "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" I always thought it was "Keep on 'til the cows come home". My wife and one of her friends ridiculed me while explaining it was actually, "Keep on with the force, don't stop". What the fuck does that mean? I like my lyric better.

Also, when my friends and I were young burnouts getting high in Evanston basements we all thought the lyric was "Fairy wears boots dancing with a bra". I was picturing a true cross-dressing fairy. Only years later did I realize the fairy was actually dancing with a dwarf.

I'm also thinking of ridiculing you.

To make JORR happy, I'll post something I've personally misheard.

I swore in the song Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in A Small Town from Pearl Jam that Eddie says, "I swear I recognize your breasts". And if you think of it, I think it makes sense, or I just have looked at boobs too much in my lifetime.

I used to think that was "We go together to the lighthouse". Pretty dumb considering the song is called "Jet Airliner".

I always knew that was "white-winged dove", but when I was a boy my grandfather used to regale me with tales of Big Jim Colosimo running the White Wing Union. I developed an alternate set of lyrics for the song about sweeping up horseshit with the chorus, "Just like the White Wing does".

In Billy Jean for some reason it sounds like "chair" to me, not kid.

"the chair is not my son."

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

I always thought the kid's name was Chad. "But the Chad is not my son."

This song is a treasure trove of misheard lyrics, and most of these were mistakes I made! It's not "Papa's banquet wasn't big enough" or "Timmy, don't I know your name"? Wow. Next time we describe a comeback album as "so-and-so's Blood on the Tracks," it should mean "I don't know what the fuck the singer is saying."

   We must have been listening the same radio station yesterday afternoon. I laughed driving all the way to the store thinking that I never have had any idea of what the lyrics actually are.

My kid and her friend are currently in a heated argument over whether its, "if we could turn back time to the gold ol' days" or its "if we could turn back time to the good dope days". In either case, I've decided to run away from my house.

I'll never leave your pizza burning.

Also from Duel of the Fates, John Williams' soundtrack for a Phantom Menace, the choir clearly says "CORN ON THE COB, CORN ON THE KABOB"

That link doesn't even make clear what the actual docks at night/dark sad night lyric is.

I was a "Papa's banquet wasn't big enough" guy until literally 10 seconds ago when I read this post.
