Nash is full of shit. How big a guy is Flair? Kinda middle of the pack, eh? Sure packed them in thru the 80s and 90s...

Now if you're going to give the belt to someone who isn't a talker, who doesn't have the "it" factor... then heavy/cruiser weight is of secondary concern.

BTW, based on the stupid logic, wrestling can only get "bigger" so long as I keep finding more huge champs, each incrementally larger than the previous one.

The HHH/Kane necrophilia angle is when I stopped watching wrestling every week. Kinda dropped in and out for another three years, haven't watched since except for huge deals (Benoit dying, Bret Hart coming back).

I loved wrestling as a kid during its glory days because it was for kids and in its glory days. There's nothing there now, just guys with fake-real names like "Wade Barrett" or "Tyson Snarfsfordman" or whatever, and John Cena yelling about determination and the fire and the passion while inexplicably wearing jorts. The calibre of performers just isn't the same. It's like how the old ECW dutifully created and graduated its best talent, until at the end they were left with their biggest guy being Rhino. Now I liked Rhino when he had that WWF run, but there's a steep drop there.

Same. That signified creative rock-bottom and my interest at that point had already begun to wane.

I believe the peak was Wrestlemania 15.

The next year was ok. Then a steady drop.

Smack off pretty much ruined RAW

It depends on what you want to consider the peak. Wrestlemania 17 is considered by many to be the best. But in 1999, wrestling was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. If it weren't for this board, I'd barely watch these days.

Yeah I do not think you can start talking about a Mania drop off until 17.
