Remember when Mike did some WWF event and Vince McMahon gave him a chunk of money? Mike was like WTF is this for? Vince was like well this is some kind of fee required by law to give a fighter or entetainer etc.. Mike said he never received that from Don King in all the years. He had a thought of going after King and shooting him dead for stealing his money but he thought of his kids and didnt go thru with it. This had to be like 10-15 years ago.

Not sure why the public hate for Mike Tyson. I never hated the guy, always liked him. Ya he had a rough childhood and he robbed old ladies when he was young and that is inexcusable but it has nothing to do with him being a fighter. Let's also not open the other can of worms that will be posted next.

If Cus could've lived to 110, then Tyson would've been the greatest fighter ever.

Cus was gone before Mike hit his prime.

The loss of Kevin Rooney - i.e. the right hand of Cus, probably was his tipping point downward.

Teddy Atlas leaving was no big deal.

Tyson would have continued his greatest with anyone who was a legitimate boxing trainer like say Bob Arum. But not with Don King who introduced MIke to pussy, money, crooks, and the scum of the earth.

Am I missing a joke about Arum and King being trainers here?

I have a stat driven simulator called TKO boxing , have not played it in a long long time . I ran Tyson Vs Ali in prime 100 times , Ali came out on top 65 times. I should see if I can still run it and do a tourny. Issue is who do I include and how big do I make it? I have all of Lance games, they where awesome esp the wrestling one.Games some I can get to run others I cant. Been thinking of getting an old XP or 95 machine just to run his g

The only way Tyson wins is if Ali makes a bad mistake.
Ali wouldn't let Tyson get close enough to use that hook uppercut combo. He's be able to keep his distance and make it go the distance. Tyson would never get to use his power. Tyson wins quick matches. He's not a 12 round guy. We know this.
But if Ali made a mistake... just one and let Tyson in close had knock him the fuck out.

But damn it was fun to watch Tyson when he came up and they fought him every month for like two straight years.

I'd take Tyson, don't much care what MANY have said here.

Today, Tyson would win big.

Even 20 years ago, Ali's chances would be shaky at best.

Tyson would have no chance, Tyson's camp ducked Holyfield for years, they ducked Lennox Lewis for years...Tyson would get steamrolled by Ali, Frasier, Forman and a dozen other heavyweights from the 50's and 60's .

I'd argue that we never saw Ali in his prime.

But even early '70s Ali would be able to outbox a young Tyson.

I was a huge Tyson fan though.

One of the more interesting and prophetic things that I ever heard one person say about another person. Cus D'Amato believed that Tyson was so deviant and undisciplined as a human being that unless he fought every month he'd self destruct. I don't think that a truer theory has never been uttered about another human being. Helluva insight into Tyson.

Just from reading this thread it's pretty apparent that some of you know absolutely nothing about boxing.
