Can we move on to discussing something other X-Pac? Christ, even LTG can ruin a wrestling thread.

Honestly. Who fucking cares about X-Pac's place in wrestling history? Can't overrate someone no one cares about.

While I consider you to be somewhat funny at times your thoughts on anything of substance can hardly be considered illuminating Douche.

I been thinking about other people I would consider overrated. One that came to mind is Kevin Sullivan. I know he has had an impact in the behind the scenes stuff, but I just never cared for him in the ring.

Individuals that fail to see the significance of "dangerous" "woke" Twitter posters perhaps?

That’s a good one. The older he got, the rougher it was to watch him.

I thought he had some good matches with Cactus Jack and the Benoit feud also brought some great stuff. But the 3 faces of fear and then Dungeon of Doom run against Hogan was just a booking abortion.

I was going to throw that one out too but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Sullivan had a lot of juice but never did much in the ring. I caught him a little later while he was in his upper 30's so I always tried to take that under consideration. He was much better in Luche Libre and I guess the Florida promotion than he ever was in WCW.

Demolition.

The talk about DX got me thinking, almost all of the stables in wrestling history where formed to cover one anothers weakness and help push just one or 2 at most. The Horsemen with a couple of exceptions where all great performers who could and where successful on their own.

Michael P.S. Hayes was overrated.

Based on what?

He wasn't a good technical wrestler, but he got over and could draw in the South.

Demolition is a good one. Just a cheap imitation of the Road Warriors and there were several better tag teams in the WWF at that time.

Michael Hayes was not good in the ring and I think just about everyone agrees with that. But his work on the mic and talking people into the seats was up there with just about anyone. The Freebirds were a perfect villain for the Von Erichs. They had the tough dude that could go in the ring in Gordy. They had Buddy who was like a little rat, but could do quite a bit in the ring. And then there was Hayes would go do all the talking and had all the charisma.

But that is the point. This isn't about whether guys "got over" or received a push. Its about guys that received the pops and pushes but really weren't all that deserving as they stunk as wrestlers.

There was never a guy more over than Hogan but he put on some of the shittiest matches that I have ever seen. Particularly in the WWF incarnation of him.

Ok just trying to gauge the criteria since it seemed to shift a little.

It then gets into what's the point of pro wrestling? Being the best in ring worker or being the best character/promo?

The guys who draw money historically since the wrestling boom have been the characters. As you say, a Hogan match was nothing to write home about. But the man was the biggest draw ever. Can't really say he was overrated.

I don't care about the business side of it. I didn't profit from watching it so for me it was always about the best in ring worker. It's not a tough criteria to master either.

Either you think the guy was worth the hype or you don't. In Hogan's case he was a terrible worker. Some of the worst matches ever for an All Time Great.

Case in point.

Mongo McMichael should have mentioned sooner. Whoever in WCW decided to make that happen should be finger poke of doom'ed to death.

They put a couple belts on the guy, but yeah, he was trash. Maybe the worst worker I have ever seen.

Never had the privilege of seeing any of that. In those days Dusty against anyone was great from what I have heard. Need to get on youtube and check out some Sullivan and Dusty stuff

I wouldn't call him overrated as a wrestler (I'd say he's average), but Drew McEntyre's claymore kick might be the most overrated finisher I have ever seen. It's just a terrible attempt at a dropkick. Get that weak shit out of here.

The people's elbow strongly wants you to reconsider this position.

Well yeah, but was The Rock ever slaying top heavyweights with the People's Elbow? The move was more of a joke and usually just a setup for a Rock Bottom.
