Has a Super Bowl winning coach ever been fired mid-season from any team? Let alone the team they won the Super Bowl with?

I say that they did him a favor. Guaranteed money, he can get the hell outta Green Bay before the winter hits, and while he pockets sweet cash as an analyst while his name gets floated for pretty much every possible opening.

He is going to be able to get himself healthy and spend the holidays with his family.....while getting paid. He looks like shit and his brother died of a heart attack at like age 48 a few years ago. He wont leave GB yet. He met his wife there and has raised his family there for 13 years.

Packer fans had the right to be frustrated with McCarthy. All I told my step son who is a Packer fan is to be careful what you wish for. You could
end up getting someone worse. Welcome to my world prior to picking up Nagy. At almost 16 all he has known is success with the Packers so he
could be in for a hard lesson.

A couple of weeks ago I heard rumors that McCarthy might have an opportunity over in Cleveland.

Is McCarthy responsible for the development of Rodgers?

This is just the beginning of the Packers downward spiral. #12 or not, that team is set up for 6 and 8 win seasons for MANY years to come.

I think your premise is flawed. This isn't the beginning of a downward spiral, it's the first, most needed, step in getting out of one.

I have no idea how much they worked together, he likely is due some credit for the development. I just think that they have been working together a bit
too long and the offense has gotten a bit stale. McCarthy is the only coach Rodgers has known as a starter.

Mc Carthy is a coat tail rider who will be exposed as the boob he is when Rogers is not his QB. He still deserved better treatment.

Does this mean Rodgers is going to handpick the new coach?

CEO Mike Murphy scapegoated McCarthy for the season when he should have fired himself.

What does better treatment mean? You either fire him now or have him awkwardly lame duck his way through the rest of the season. Firing him right now spares him the stress of wondering when it's going to happen while also coaching the team. It's actually the most respectful thing they could have done.

That'd be awesome but it won't be him. GB will fuck this decision up, guaranteed.
