Suck it? It makes the Kmet contract look even more spot on.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky back to Buffalo. I didn't know these deals could be made before the start of free agency.

He was released and not on expiring contract.

I didn't think that mattered. That means the cap casualties could be signed today. There has to be some other loophole to explain it.

Most cap casualties are designated for after the start of the league year. Wilson is technically not released yet.

makes sense on mitch to buffalo. he's decent enough to play a game or two, but if that team loses josh allen for the season they aren't winning anything so why bother spending on the backup QB. 2yr 5.5M, that's dirt cheap for a backup qb

Chris Jones signed a 5 year deal with the Chiefs. The first 3 years are guaranteed for $95M.

Mayfield back for 3 years and up to $115M. He has $40M completely guaranteed at signing.

I would have gambled with Fields before passing that $$ out

Mayfield is clearly a tier above Fields though, if not two tiers. Mayfield is what we thought Derek Carr was like 3-4 years ago - solidly above average at best, average at worst.

He was a $6M guy a year before. He's a replacement level starter. I'm not giving a replacement level guy $40M for a year. I'm not willing to pay $30M for that. What does Mahomes think when someone like that makes nearly as much as him?

This signing is going to play out like Daniel Jones imo.

Andre James back with the Raiders. Maybe Poles knew something when he made the trade for Bates. There's no viable free agent center that isn't old or currently injured. I still hope we sign Connor Williams.

That's just the market though. It doesn't make sense to me to go with a below replacement level player (Fields) when you can just get the replacement level guy in the flesh, with statistical proof that he can actually play above replacement level as well at times. If you don't want to pay him that money then for me just grab a rookie QB - better for the cap and you don't get stick with the below replacement level guy.

It's the market because teams are stupid.

Cousins going to Hotlanta. His wifey wants to be around her parents and maybe check off some of her school crush bucket list fucks while she still got it. He'd be daft to re-sign in the NFC Norris with Lions/Packers both coming off decent playoff runs and trending not-falling-apart.

Take Mrs Cousins back to relive her Bulldawg daze and instantly become QB1-of-none in the putrid NFC South:

Hawks - Cousins
Tampa - Mayfield
Saints - Carr
Panthers - ??? | Bryce Young

I like Mayfield, but he was playing for his career this season. Be surprising if Baker ever matches or even approaches his production this season again (career bests in comp%, passing yds, pass att, TDs, TD-INT rate etc).

Post subject:  Re: 2024 Offseason

This wasn't a randomly good year for Baker, he had arguably a slightly better season in 2020. That's reflected in his QBR which was higher back then, and though he passed for less yards due to lower attempts back then, at a per game level he was throwing for more yards per attempt ever so slightly. My point is we've seen this Baker before.

I like Baker, I like Bowles. I hope the Bucs make it back to the playoffs, esp if Cousins ends up in Atlanta instead of Fields.

Watching Baker it always looks like one of your asshole friends got up off the couch, put on a helmet and pads and started playing QB for the team.
