For me, the under the radar story is how the Browns protected Watson's money by his only have a small salary this season. If I'm Goodell, I go along with the 6 games as to not rock the boat with the process, but I tack on a 10 million dollar fine.

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/ ... -tampering

Quote:
The tampering allegations faced by the Dolphins has led to serious consequences for the organization. Owner Stephen Ross has been suspended for the beginning of the 2022 season, and the team has been docked two draft picks (Twitter link via NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero).

Ross will be suspended through October 17 of this year. He is also banned from all league committees, and is not allowed to attend league meetings until March 2023. In addition, he has been fined $1.5MM. The draft picks the team is forfeiting are a first-round selection in 2023, as well as a third-rounder in 2024. Vice chairman Bruce Beal has also been suspended and fined $500K.

The full findings of the league’s investigations into the team’s attempts to acquire quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Sean Payton include “tampering violations of unprecedented scope and severity,” per commissioner Roger Goodell. The league has found that the Dolphins engaged in “impermissible communications” with Brady dating back to 2019-20, when he was with the Patriots (Twitter link via ESPN’s Adam Schefter).

Why did Bernsie and Holmes think this Miami thing was about Flores?

In what way? It seems like the whole investigation stemmed from Flores’ accusations, no?

Maybe but it seems the Brady and other stuff was more.

I thought part of the Brady story was that Ross pressured Flores to meet with an unnamed start QB on Ross’ yacht, the implication being it was Tom Brady and the recruitment was going to pay off this summer.

I can't believe that the league isn't forcing him out altogether. Suspended Ridley a year for $1100 in online betting, but a three month suspension and a joke fine?

I really have begun to hate the NFL for crap like this.

That's exactly what I heard alleged. And I guess proven by a preponderance of the evidence.

Sounds like Flores wasn't lying. The NFL investigators just didn't believe the owner's statements were "serious". That's convenient.

The NFL looked into these allegations as part of its aforementioned investigation but found no evidence that the team intentionally lost games during the 2019 season. The investigation did, however, find that Ross made comments to team president and CEO Tom Garfinkel, general manager Chris Grier, senior vice president Brandon Shore and Flores that the team's draft position should take priority over winning games. When Flores expressed his concerns in writing, he was assured that everyone wanted him to build a "winning culture in Miami" and Ross never again made those comments to Flores.

The investigation also found that Ross' offer of $100,000 for every loss, of which there were "differing recollections about the wording, timing, and context ... was not intended or taken to be a serious offer, nor was the subject pursued in any respect by Mr. Ross or anyone else at the club."

The NBC pre-game show without any early game highlights to take up time is brutal, unwatchable.

Jets signing Duane Brown.

So much for a Teven Jenkins trade.

How the fuck are Fat Matt and Joe Judge in charge of the Patriots offense? Is BB playing 4D chess or just insane?

Even if you genuinely believed that, the Commanders don't have a lot of talent on offense, and they'll be missing their stud on defense for at least a month.

Judge may be fine, but I wouldn’t ask Patricia to call any plays. He's one of the most brilliant dumb guys the NFL has seen.

I actually think Joe judge could be a pretty good coach. I know it sounds crazy and as a giants fan I should be piling on, but I think he had the terrible combo of a lame duck GM and a mandatory ownership-chosen shitty OC.

I don't understand that at all, so J.G. was going to make 27ish mill this year and be a UFA at season end.. now he will make 7 million thus year and be UFA at seasons end. Maybe he hits 16 million if he starts most of the games with incentives..

The season starts in 10 days, S.F. was stuck with him and needed him as a backup..

They aren't deep but their skill position starters are very good, although coming off bad years.
